🎉 Victory! Today Congress voted to prioritize lifesaving cancer research and improved access to care in their year-end legislative package. ACS CAN volunteers and cancer advocates like you helped make this possible by sending tens of thousands of emails, phone calls, and tweets over the past few weeks urging Congress to act!
The bill includes an increase in funding for biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and for cancer research at the National Cancer Institute and the CDC's cancer programs.
It also includes a 5-year extension of additional federal funding for Medicaid in Puerto Rico and a permanent extension of Medicaid funding for the U.S. Territories, and sets forth a roadmap to promote diverse clinical trial participation.
Thank you for your continued advocacy—we couldn't do this critical work to end cancer as we know it, for everyone, without your help.
