On today’s date in 2025, one of our own, Highway Patrol Trooper Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr., was killed in an automobile accident. Trooper Adamick gave his life protecting and serving his community and the great state of Texas.

Today we remember and honor his legacy and his sacrifice.

He began his career with DPS on January 29, 2024, and was stationed in Coldspring.

His duty was to protect and serve; our duty is to remember his sacrifice.

End of Watch: September 15, 2025.

🚁 AIR OPS TUESDAY 🚔

Our Tactical Flight Officers (TFO) recently responded to assist our partners at the Harris County Sheriff's Office with a vehicle pursuit, taking over the play-by-play from the air.

During the pursuit, the suspect ran a stop sign and caused a crash before deciding to continue the getaway on foot. After bailing from the vehicle, the suspect tried to hide in a wooded area.

Unfortunately for him, hiding from an aircraft crew watching from above is a little harder than it sounds.

Our TFO’s maintained visual contact and helped guide ground units to the suspect, who was taken into custody.

Another great example of teamwork between air and ground units - and a reminder that when DPS Air Ops is overhead, there aren’t many places to hide. 🚁

Office of the Governor Greg Abbott recently presented the Star of Texas award to multiple Texas State Troopers, recognizing extraordinary sacrifice in the line of duty. The award is the state’s highest honor presented to first responders and private citizens who are seriously injured or killed while assisting in an emergency.

Among those honored were fallen Trooper Jerry Adamick Jr., who lost his life on September 15, 2025 when his patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree while he was responding to a shots fired call, and Trooper Derrick Waters, who was seriously injured on September 27, 2024 after being struck by an intoxicated driver while conducting a traffic stop.

Their service, sacrifice and commitment to protecting the people of Texas will never be forgotten. We honor them, their families and all those who continue to serve with courage and dedication.

Trooper Adamick will never be forgotten. Trooper Waters’ strength and perseverance are a powerful reminder of the dangers our first responders face every day.

Their sacrifice represents the very meaning of service above self.

$38,650 IN STOLEN JEWELRY RECOVERED — TROOPS EPISODE 19 🪎🚔

Troopers in Chambers County used their keen observation skills to recover stolen property reportedly valued at $38,650! After conducting a traffic stop and arresting a passenger on a Burglary of Habitation warrant, it became apparent there was more to the story than what the driver was presenting. Our sharp Trooper noticed something hidden in the driver’s clothing. After uncovering stolen jewelry and identifying documents from unsuspecting victims, the driver was also arrested for theft of property and fraudulent possession of identifying information. Watch the reel to see the unusual hiding spot where the jewelry was located! 👀

Community engagement at its best! 💙

recently had the opportunity to join our fellow law enforcement partners and members of the community for a law enforcement event at Second Baptist Church - Northwest Campus in .

Events like this give us an opportunity to step outside of our everyday duties, connect with the people we serve, strengthen relationships with our public safety partners, and simply enjoy some great fellowship.

And judging by the photos, there were plenty of smiles to go around!

We’re grateful to Second Baptist Church for bringing everyone together and for showing such tremendous support for the men and women who serve and protect our communities.

M**H AND CO***NE SEIZURE — IH-45 MONTGOMERY COUNTY

The proactive work of a Trooper on Interstate 45 in Montgomery County resulted in a significant drug seizure. During a traffic stop, our Trooper conducted a thorough investigation, uncovering approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine, 46 grams of co***ne, less than two ounces of ma*****na, and unprescribed pills.

The proactive work of our Troopers keeps dangerous drugs out of our communities and helps keep our neighborhoods safe!

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was changed forever.

On September 11, 2001 - nearly 3,000 lives were lost in acts of unimaginable terror. In the face of tragedy, we also witnessed extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and unity as first responders, service members, and Americans answered the call.

Today, pauses to remember every life lost, every family forever changed, and every hero who ran toward danger.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember. We still honor. We still stand together.

The years may pass, but our promise remains the same: We will never forget.
