Harris County’s budget is on the line — and so are our communities.

During the month of September, join us at Commissioners Court to demand a budget that funds relief, housing, prevention, and community care — not ARPA cuts and law enforcement salary hikes.

Key Dates:
🔹 Sept 9 @ 9AM → The People’s Declaration (speak out at Commissioners Court)
🔹 Sept 18 @ 9AM → The Final Vote (our last chance to be heard)

📍 Meet us at 410 Sul Ross Street (CA4Y) at 9AM on both dates to carpool to Commissioners Court and stand united!

This is our moment to show that safety is built, not bought — and our budget must reflect that truth.

Make sure to register to speak on the 2026 Harris County Budget at Commissioners Court on tomorrow!
🖤 if you can, wear all black for solidarity🖤

Harris County faces a $270M deficit — but while law enforcement budgets grow, community services are at risk.

💔 Cuts could hit emergency response, domestic violence programs, foster youth mental health, reentry support, and homelessness prevention.

Budgets are moral documents. Right now, they show us who’s protected — and who’s left behind.

📣 Join us to demand county dollars work for our communities.

Last week, we stood before Harris County Commissioners Court to oppose raises for constables—while the county faces a projected $270 million budget deficit (with some reports citing $200M+).

Despite this deficit, a 3–2 vote approved law enforcement pay raises—increasing constables’ salaries to nearly $293K/year.

Communities are paying the price:

🚸Vital early childhood programs—like free preschool slots and summer camps—risk shutdown because a proposed tax hike to sustain them failed.

Our mobile mental health units—designed to keep police out of crisis responses—are now at risk.

🗣️ True safety = youth mentorship
🗣️ True safety = mental health resources
🗣️ True safety = community investment

The 2026 budget itself has not yet been passed—Commissioners Court received the proposal in mid-August, and a final vote is expected later this September. That means our voices still matter.

This is what democracy looks like. This is what community power looks like.

📢 Keep speaking out. Tell Commissioners: Houston needs a budget that invests in people, not just policing.

Our Stop the Violence Basketball Game wasn’t just about hoops , it was about healing, hope, and showing up for youth and community.

As part of our Credible Messenger initiative, this event brought together trusted mentors, community leaders, and young people to build bonds that interrupt cycles of violence. 💪🏾

From powerful plays to powerful conversations, we reminded each other:
👉🏾 Youth deserve safe spaces
👉🏾 Violence is never the answer
👉🏾 Community care starts with us

Grateful to every player, mentor, volunteer, and supporter who made this day unforgettable 🔥

Let’s keep building a community rooted in love, not violence. 💛

🗣️ On Tues 8/12 at 12PM, join us on Zoom to build YOUR testimony as we get ready to testify at Commissioners Court - where funding decisions are being made that directly impact youth, families, and our communities.

We’re speaking out for real investment in what matters:
➡️ Youth programs
➡️ Community care over incarceration
➡️ Support for youth and families - especially those impacted by the justice system

🎤 Prepare your testimony
💪🏾 Push for change

This event brought anime, community, and civic engagement together in a whole new way.🔥

If anime fans and our community keep showing up like this for our democracy , imagine the impact we can make. Let’s carry this momentum forward—into every space where our voices matter. ✨
