The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is at it again. This state agency wants to deny people the ability to work legally. Your immigration status has nothing to do with your ability to do the work and this state agency should only focus on whether you are competent to do the work for which you are licensed. Once again, the state wants to be a tool for immigration enforcement instead of focusing on whether workers can do the work. As a Libertarian I would abolish the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and allow private agencies to determine through a certification process whether the person is able to do the work in an competent manner.

Texas licensing rule could block thousands of workers from getting or renewing licenses, raising fears of labor shortages and underground work.
