If you want to start checking your goals off your list. SMART Goal setting is a game changer.

Before I started setting SMART goals, it would take me forever to achieve a goal, because I would be all over the place. I would never be discipline and consistent to achieve anything. Writing goals this way allowed me to be clear and specific.

Do not MAX out your credit cards. I repeat 🚫do not MAX out your credit cards. And if you do not pay the minimum balance. It will take you forever to pay off the balance but most of all If you want your score to increase fast. Pay your credit card balances down to 10% of the balance. A whopping 30% of your score is based on credit utilization.

If any of you were like me before I was educated on credit. I used to swipe my cards, swipe swipe swipe all over town. I wouldn't care how much I charged because I knew I would only pay like $50 a month. Wrong answer. My score was very bad. I thought because I was paying the minimum payment on time I would be good. Nope! Not until I got educated on how credit works. So that's why I am telling you now. I made all the mistakes so you don't have too.

So many people overlook this. If you pay your credit card bills late, meaning past 30 days. Your credit score will be BAD! It's that simple. Pay your bills on time, and you will have GOOD credit.

When I was in college, I didn't understand credit and I paid my cards when I felt like paying it. I had no discipline and used my bill money to go to the club and buy clothes. I didn't realize the damage I made to my score until ... one day, my car stopped working and I got tired of repairing a hooptie. I went to the car dealership to buy a car and my credit score wasn't giving what it was supposed to give. I had to get a cosigner and pay thousands of dollars down and I still didn't get the car I wanted. They would only finance the base model Honda Civic. I was so mad 😩that I had to pay 18% interest rate for a car I hated.

This is why it's so important to check your credit score *and* credit report before you apply for a mortgage. Your application can be denied if your credit report contains certain types of information, even if your credit score meets the cutoff.

It may be tempting to apply for a ton of credit all at once. The logic seems sound: Rack up a
lot of credit, therefore making your credit a lot better.
This is hardly the case, though. Only 10% of your credit score is determined by the number of your new credit applications, and if you’ve got a whole bunch of them, you may come off as a risky prospect to lenders.
Also, if you take out more credit than you are able to manage, payments will rack up. If you can’t pay them accordingly, it’ll definitely reflect negatively on your credit score.
