A stolen vehicle can quickly be stripped down into an engine, transmission, door or other part sold to an unsuspecting buyer — while leaving someone without the vehicle they depend on every day.

Under the leadership of Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, HCSO Auto Theft investigators are targeting the locations that help fuel that cycle.

During a coordinated operation with local, state and federal partners, detectives executed warrants at three locations tied to suspected chop shop activity, recovering stolen vehicles and numerous parts connected to additional theft cases.

A Harris County resident recently shared:
💬 "Deputy Mahon recognized that a student, due to circumstances out of their control, was in need of some new clothing and shoes. He took it upon himself to go to the store and purchase the student new shoes, some shirts and socks. Deputy Mahon did this not for praise or accolades, but only because he cares for the students and has a big heart. His service is beyond protecting the school. It's caring about the students."

Deputy Mahon has served with HCSO since 2017 and brings 15 years of law enforcement experience. His work goes beyond keeping students safe, it's about showing up for them, in every way that matters.

👏Thank you, Deputy Mahon, for reminding us that true service comes from the heart. We're proud to call you a teammate.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a call for service regarding a driver reportedly traveling the wrong way near Mueschke Road and FM-2920.

Upon units arriving in the area, a short pursuit ensued with the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle crashed, striking approximately six vehicles. A total of 6 people were transported to hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. The suspect has also been transported to a hospital. No injuries to any deputies.

FM-2920 is currently shut down in the area due to the crash investigation.
