Closing out this week, our team is visiting with two great groups in the Rio Grande Valley. First off, they mm-bopped over to McAllen Thursday night and had a great time visiting with our host partners Easterseals Rio Grande Valley at Workforce Solutions corporate office. We’re grateful to have such a strong and long lasting collaboration in this area.

But the Texas tour doesn’t stop - this Friday (today!) Kim and Martha are rounding out the week by visiting our friends over in Brownsville.

We’ll start the week with our 2026 Education Summit on Tuesday, November 10, from 12:00–1:30 PM CT. Together with educators and experts, we’ll explore responsible AI use in education and what it means for teaching, learning, and preparing students for the workforce.

Then, join us for The Children’s Agenda on Thursday, November 12, from 10:30 AM–12:00 PM CT. Alongside fellow advocates, we’ll share our priorities for the 90th and discuss how we can work together to advance policies that support children and families.

Both events are virtual via Zoom. We hope you’ll join us and help spread the word!

Excited to be preparing for the 90th with great ideas and even better partners!

On October 14, our Opportunity Youth & Young Adult and Education Policy Briefing brought together fellow advocates and legislative champions focused on helping young Texans reconnect with school and work.

Thank you to Senator Cesar Blanco for sponsoring the briefing and providing remarks, and to our partners at The Aspen Institute, Texas Network of Youth Services (TNOYS), United Ways of Texas, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, and Lone Star Justice Alliance. We’re grateful to every speaker who shared their expertise and experiences to help policymakers understand what these recommendations could mean for Opportunity Youth.

There’s important work ahead! Together, we’re advocating for stronger coordination among state agencies, better support for young people leaving foster care and juvenile justice systems, and and increased accountability for education and workforce outcomes.

We’re grateful to have this group alongside us as we advocate for policies that remove barriers and help more young Texans reconnect to education, training, and meaningful employment.

The Fall 2026 Texas Tour is headed to the Rio Grande Valley!

This week, CHILDREN AT RISK’s early childhood education team will be in McAllen (in partnership with Easter Seals RGV) and Brownsville (in partnership with United Way of Southern Cameron County), bringing together local leaders and community partners to take a closer look at child care quality, access, and spending across the region.

Together, we’ll dig into the local data, hear directly from the community, and discuss policy solutions ahead of the 90th .

Wow - last week was incredible! Four cities, four dynamic visits with early childhood advocates across Texas. A huge thanks to our partners out in El Paso for rounding out a packed and powerful week of Texas Tour community conventions!
