Hon’ble Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal , visited NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on the sidelines of his official visit to represent India at the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial Meeting.

The Minister had an engaging tour of the facility and held thoughtful discussions on opportunities to further strengthen India–U.S. collaboration in the space sector.

The Indian diaspora in Houston organized a warm and memorable public reception in honour of Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal on the evening of 13 September 2026 at India House.

A diverse cross section of the community — professionals, entrepreneurs, students, cultural leaders, and representatives of regional associations — gathered together to welcome the Hon’ble Minister and celebrate his visit to Texas.

Consul General Shri D.C. Manjunath extended a brief formal welcome on behalf of the community and thanked the Hon’ble Minister for taking time out of his demanding G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial engagements to meet and interact with the diaspora.

The reception showcased Houston’s vibrant and civically engaged Indian community — one that maintains deep ties with India while contributing significantly to the economic, cultural, and social fabric of the United States.
The gathering also reflected the pride of the Haryanvi community, represented by HARIT, in welcoming a leader who served as Chief Minister of Haryana for nearly a decade.

The Hon’ble Minister addressed the gathering, sharing his perspectives on India’s development journey, the nation’s growing global role, and the importance of strengthening bonds with the Pravasi Bharatiya community. He appreciated the contributions of the Indian diaspora and encouraged continued engagement in strengthening India - US cooperation and progress.

Consul General joined the solemn occasion of public remembrance commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11 attacks organised by the Mayor’s office City of Houston held at the Lauren’s Garden in the City, a memorial dedicated to the victims in honor of Lauren, a native Houstonion and passenger of United Flight 93.

Mayor John Whitmire and Lauren’s Father spoke on the occasion. The Consular Corps of Houston joined and came together along with other Houstonians to honor the memory of those who lost their lives and the heroes who served with selflessness on that day and in the days and years that followed.

We will never forget.
