Join us for a presentation about the history of Juneteenth. Known as Freedom Day, it commemorates the day that Federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all enslaved people be freed. This presentation will map Juneteenth from that day in 1865 to when we declared a national holiday in 2021.

Our speaker, Ms. Angela Taylor, was the first African American Community News Editor at The Galveston County Daily News where she served for 15 years. She currently serves as president of the Galveston Public Schools Hall of Honor committee and was the 2025 leader of the Texas City-La Marque Chamber’s Leadership Mainland program.

The program will be Saturday, June 6th @ 2pm. No registration required and is open to all ages.

Join us at the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library (930 Corbindale Rd. Houston, TX 77024) on Wednesday, June 3rd at 2:00 PM to learn to doodle dinosaurs! This program is for children ages 6-9. Siblings welcome!

In this class, Dalton Stark will share his personal process for doodling dinosaurs — encouraging creativity, and having fun with shape language to discover their own unique way of drawing prehistoric life.

Dalton is a Texas-based artist who loves drawing dinosaurs. His creature-focused artwork is inspired by a lifelong passion for paleontology, an appreciation for biodiversity, and a deep devotion to drawing.

He has created artwork for the prehistoric-themed coffee shop Cambrian Coffee as well as the Houston Museum of Natural Science, alongside his independent art practice where he brings ancient creatures to life in fun and imaginative ways.

We're so excited about the start of the Summer Reading Program that we're throwing a party! Come to the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library (930 Corbindale Rd. Houston, TX 77024) on Monday, June 1st at 2:00 PM and register the whole family for SRP (you, too, adults!) and enjoy some fun crafts while you do it. We just can't wait to get started and we hope you join us.

Discover the science of sound through interactive experiments and musical demonstrations at the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library (930 Corbindale Rd. Houston, TX 77024) on Tuesday, June 2 at 4:00 PM! Participants will explore how sound travels through vibrations, investigate different forms of energy, and rotate through hands-on lab stations focused on sound waves, energy transfer, and the Law of Conservation of Energy.
