🐾 HAPPY RETIREMENT, MR. RUIZ! 🐾🍎

​After 29 incredible years of teaching PreK at Love Elementary, Mr. Ruiz is officially retiring!

​While we are absolutely thrilled for him as he starts this next chapter, it’s safe to say we are incredibly sad to see him go. Mr. Ruiz, thank you for your nearly three decades of patience, dedication, and love. You have inspired and shaped generations of our littlest lions, leaving a lasting legacy in our hearts and classrooms.

🎓 ATTENTION CLASS OF 2026 FORMER LOVE LIONS! 🎓🦁
​It’s time to come home to where it all began! We want to celebrate your incredible high school graduation milestone with one of our absolute favorite traditions.

​You are officially invited back to campus for the Senior Clap Out! Come walk the halls, see some familiar faces, and let our current students and staff cheer you on as you head into your next big chapter. Once a Lion, always a Lion! 💙

​📅 When: Tuesday, June 2 at 1:30 PM
📍 Where: Love Elementary School
​🎓 What to know:
​Wear your cap and gown! (Or your college/future plans t-shirt if you don't have it yet).
​Please arrive a few minutes early to check in at the front office.

YOU’RE INVITED: Love Elementary’s 100th Birthday Celebration! 🎂💯

​Love Elementary has been a cornerstone of our community for an entire century, and it’s finally time to celebrate! We are rolling out the red carpet for current families, former students, retired staff, and all our wonderful neighbors for a day of history and fun.

​When: Saturday, May 16
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Where: Love Elementary School

​Schedule of Events:
​10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Explore our "Time Tunnels" through the halls, contribute to our community art project in the cafeteria, and grab lunch at the food trucks while enjoying live music on the blacktop.
​1:00 PM: Join us for a final musical performance featuring current students, followed by a Time Capsule Ceremony and cake and punch in the cafeteria.

Are you an Alumnus?
We would love to see your old photos and hear your favorite stories! This is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends and see how the school has grown while honoring the traditions that make Love special.

Admission is free and open to the public. Please share this post to help us reach as many former Love Lions as possible! 🦉❤️

Attention Love Elementary Families! 📣

​We are collecting donations for our upcoming Fiesta Art Night! We are specifically looking for plastic Easter eggs and bags of rice or beans to help the children create their very own maracas. 🪇

​If you have any leftovers from the holiday or a spare bag of beans in the pantry, we would love to take them off your hands!

​Details:
​What: Plastic eggs (any color) + Rice or Beans.
​Where: Please drop donations at the Main Office labeled for Ms. Vandebrink.
​When: Now through Friday, April 24

Stuck on the couch? Trade the boredom for some board games! Family Game Night is happening RIGHT NOW at Love Elementary, and we’re keeping the lights on until 7:30 PM.

Here is what’s waiting for you:
The Library: Level up with our Retro Video Game lounge. 👾
The Cafeteria: We’ve got stacks of board games and card games for all ages. 🃏
Dinner is Covered: No need to cook! Nor Catering is on-site with delicious options for the whole crew. 🍕

Admission:
$5 for families with 1 child
$10 for families with 2+ children

Grab the kids and head over to the school. Let’s see who the real gaming champion of the family is! 🦁✨

​Dust off those gaming skills and join the PTO for a night of family fun! Whether you’re a joystick pro or a board game strategist, we’ve got something for everyone.

​When: Friday, April 17th | 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
​Where: Love Elementary (Retro Video Games in the Library 🕹️ | Board Games in the Cafeteria 🃏)
​Cost: $5 for 1-child families | $10 for families with 2+ children.

This coming Tuesday night, 3/24/26, is our next Spirit Night! Loro Heights (located at 1001 W 11th St, Houston, TX 77008) will be sending 15% of sales back to the school that night. All you need to do is tell the cashier that you're there from Love! So if you're looking for an easy dinner on Wednesday night, please consider coming out to Loro and supporting our kids!
