Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💙

Today, we celebrate the heart behind nonprofits—the people who show up, serve with purpose, create opportunities, and help build stronger communities.

At Harmony House, we’re proud to be part of a community working every day to provide housing, support, and hope to those who need it most.

To every nonprofit, staff member, volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter making a difference: thank you. Your compassion creates impact.

Coming Full Circle ❤️

Some people leave a lasting impact on Harmony House. Others come back and remind us exactly why their presence mattered so much.

After 10 years of serving our residents and community, Gwendolyn stepped away to face an unimaginable battle: Stage 4B cervical cancer. She beat the odds, found new purpose in her journey, and has spent the years since helping others navigate their own battles through advocacy, outreach, and sharing her powerful story of faith and resilience.

And now, we are incredibly grateful to welcome Gwen back home to Harmony House. 🥹💙

Gwen has returned to the our team, and to say everyone is excited to have her back is an understatement. Her compassion, strength, wisdom, and heart for people have always been part of who she is…and we know she will continue to make an incredible difference in the lives of those we serve.

Welcome home, Gwen. We are so grateful your story brought you back to us. 💙

🏠 Collaboration is how communities move forward.

Harmony House was proud to join the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County and our partners in The Way Home in welcoming a delegation from Birmingham to Houston at our Navigation Center.

The visit was an opportunity to share what we’ve learned through Houston’s coordinated response to homelessness — and to exchange ideas about what it takes to build systems that help people move from homelessness toward safe, stable, permanent housing.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share Harmony House’s experience, learn alongside our partners, and be part of conversations that can strengthen homeless response systems beyond Houston.

Thank you to the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston for bringing partners together and continuing to champion collaboration across our community. 💙

☀️ Houston heat can be dangerous—but you don't have to face it alone.
When temperatures soar, local cooling centers provide a safe, air-conditioned place to cool down, rest, and stay hydrated. Whether you're experiencing homelessness, don't have reliable A/C, or know someone who may be at risk, these resources can make all the difference.

💙 Please take a moment to:
❄️ Save this post for future reference.
📲 Share it with someone who may need it.
🤝 Check in on neighbors, older adults, and anyone vulnerable to extreme heat.

Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly—but they're also preventable with the right resources.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.
