Have you ever received a suspicious-looking text or email? It may have been a phishing scam! 🎣

Phishing is when a scammer sends out a mass message in attempt to go "fishing" for personal information. Often times they pose as legitimate organizations such as the bank, the IRS, or even Medicare.

Look out for:
❌ Incorrect email address: The email domain will be slightly misspelled or from an entirely different domain when inspected, such as an email from “Medicare” being from [email protected] or even [email protected]
❌ Poor grammar: The message may be full of spelling errors or grammatical issues that a legitimate company wouldn’t make.
❌ Strong sense of urgency: “You will lose your healthcare coverage, confirm Medicare number NOW!”
❌ Sketchy logo: The brand logo is blurry or crooked from being photoshopped in.

If you experience a phishing scam for Medicare, TXSMP at 1-888-341-6187 to report the scam.

If you find something concerning on a Medicare statement or accidentally give out your Medicare information, report it! Don't hide it and don't be ashamed. Scammers are really good at what they do and the SMP is here to help.
