Memorial Day Message

Today, as we gather with family and friends and enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted, I ask our community to pause and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

This day is not simply the beginning of summer. It is a sacred day of remembrance for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our nation. They made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live in freedom, worship freely, raise our families, and enjoy the blessings we share every day in this great country.

Here in our small town, we understand the values of faith, family, service, and sacrifice. Many of our own families have loved ones who wore the uniform, and some carry the weight of losing a hero who never came home. Today, we honor their memory and the legacy they left behind.

I am humbled by the opportunity to serve alongside men and women who have also dedicated their lives to protecting others. We recognize that our ability to serve this community is possible because generations of American heroes stood in harm’s way before us.

Please join me in keeping the families of our fallen service members in your thoughts and prayers. May we never forget the price that was paid for the freedoms we enjoy, and may we strive to live lives worthy of their sacrifice.

From my family and the entire Police Department, thank you to all who have served, and especially to those who gave everything for our nation.

May God bless the families of our fallen heroes, may God bless our community, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.

This morning, the Houston Police Department successfully completed its physical training assessment. As a department, we remain committed to promoting both physical fitness and mental well-being, recognizing that the demands of our profession require us to maintain a high level of readiness.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and congratulations to our staff for their outstanding performance. The test was challenging, yet our team demonstrated exceptional determination, resilience, and unity.

It was especially encouraging to see part-time personnel come out in support of their colleagues. Despite facing obstacles—including injuries and ongoing recovery from medical setbacks—many pushed through with remarkable perseverance and dedication.

Your commitment to excellence and to one another does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your hard work, your courage, and your service to our community.

May God bless and protect each of you and your families.

⚠️ Traffic Advisory – Houston Area ⚠️

The Houston Police Department is alerting drivers that the northbound side of North Jackson near AutoZone is currently experiencing traffic signal issues. The green light may not illuminate at times and could appear completely out.

Crews are on the way to fix the problem as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please proceed with caution and treat the intersection as a stop sign if the traffic light is not functioning.

Thank you for your patience and for helping keep our roads safe
Have a blessed week.

Today, I had the distinct honor of recognizing not just a dedicated officer, but a lifelong friend. I proudly presented Officer Larry Mims, PD4 “the OG” with his 25 years of continuous service to the great City of Houston, as he officially retires from both the city and the state as an Agent with MDOC.

Larry, your legacy speaks for itself. From your military service to your years in law enforcement, you’ve exemplified commitment, integrity, and brotherhood every step of the way.

Congratulations, brother. I pray the Lord continues to bless you in this next chapter just as He has throughout your incredible journey of service.

Enjoy your well-earned retirement! You’ve more than earned it.
