Since its establishment in 1908, more than 1.3 million Warrior Citizens have answered the call to serve. Today, nearly 9,000 Army Reserve soldiers are mobilized and/or deployed across 25 countries, supporting U.S. Army and Joint Force requirements.

Army Reserve soldiers are Twice the Citizen, bringing the discipline of military service and the expertise of civilian careers together to build combat-ready formations whenever the Nation calls. 🇺🇸

"As the enabling capacity for the Army, our role has never been more critical," said Lt. Gen. Robert D. Harter, Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command. "The Army Reserve is driving on its purpose – building and delivering combat-ready Soldiers and formations at time of need, when the Nation calls."

Army Reserve Researchers Shape the Future of the Army’s Robotic Mule

The 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command is proud to highlight a major research effort led by Lt. Col. Vikram Mittal and Lt. Col. Wesley Brown, whose comprehensive study is helping shape the U.S. Army’s next generation of the Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (SMET) robotic platform.

Conducted from May to October 2025, the study gathered data from units across all Army components to understand how Soldiers employ SMET Increment 1 and what improvements will deliver the greatest operational value. Using a multi layered methodology—surveys, interviews, documentation review, and quantitative analysis—the team produced data driven insights that will directly inform requirements for SMET Increment 2.

Their work ensures Soldier feedback remains central to modernization, strengthening the Army’s ability to field robotic systems that reduce physical burden, increase survivability, and perform reliably in contested environments.

This research reflects the core mission of the 75th USARIC: leveraging the U.S. Army Reserve’s deep civilian acquired expertise to accelerate innovation for the Total Force.

The 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command is proud to highlight the latest interview featuring Sgt. Galusha-Blatt, Assistant Director at Mission Innovation X and an innovation officer with Support Group DET 1 (Engineering).

During his recent engagement with InnovX, an accelerator based in Romania, Blatt delivered a keynote address and supported curriculum development as a thought leader in dual use innovation. InnovX is working to strengthen ties with the United States and build an innovation ecosystem that leverages Romania’s strategic proximity to the Black Sea.

At Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Blatt helps lead Mission Innovation X’s flagship initiative focused on research and education for dual use innovation—a mission that aligns directly with the 75th USARIC’s efforts to connect civilian expertise with Army problem sets.

His interview underscores exactly what makes the U.S. Army Reserve—and the 75th USARIC—unique: Soldiers who bring world class civilian experience to accelerate innovation for the nation.
