🚨 Station 16 Remodel Update 🚨

Neighbors, we want to let you know that Houston Fire Station 16 will soon be closing for a much-needed remodel. The project is expected to take about a year.

Our last day in the station will be September 22, 2025. Beginning September 25, 2025, Station 16 will not be staffed until construction is complete.

➡️ For emergencies, please continue to call 911.
➡️ For non-emergency needs, visit houstontx.gov/fire or reach out to one of our nearby stations.

We know it’s tough to step away from our firehouse and this neighborhood, but this remodel will allow us to better serve both our crews and the community for years to come.

Even though the building will be closed, you’ll still see us out and about—we’ll continue running calls in the territory, often alongside nearby stations.

During the remodel, our crews and apparatus will be temporarily reassigned as follows:

Ladder 16 → Station 8

Engine 16 → Station 2

Ambulance 16 → Station 3

Ambulance Supervisor → Station 37

We can’t wait to come back home to a new and improved Station 16. Until then, we’ll miss seeing all of you around the house. Please stop by and visit before we move out!

— Your Station 16 Family

HFD exists to serve our citizens (the public). Our menu of responsibilities is ever changing, but our basic areas of service are prevention and enforcement, public education, pre-hospital emergency care and transportation, and fire control.

Celebrating a Century of Service: Fire Station 16's Centennial Anniversary

Today, August 29th, we mark a remarkable milestone: Fire Station 16's 100th anniversary. On this day in 1924, Fire Station 16 was officially put into service at 1413 Westheimer Rd., proudly beginning its journey of safeguarding and serving the Montrose area.

Over the decades, Fire Station 16 has become a cornerstone of our community, demonstrating unwavering dedication and courage. In 1980, recognizing the evolving needs of our city, Fire Station 16 relocated to its current home at 1700 Richmond Avenue, continuing its mission from a new and enhanced base.

As we celebrate this centennial, we honor the legacy of the brave firefighters who have served with distinction and the countless lives they have touched. This milestone is not only a testament to a century of commitment but also a celebration of the community's enduring support and partnership.

Thank you to all who have supported Fire Station 16 throughout these 100 years. We look forward to many more years of service, dedication, and community spirit.

Join us in celebrating this extraordinary achievement and honoring the past, present, and future of Fire Station 16.
