PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EVENT WITH "GOING" OR "CANT GO" AND THE NUMBER OF GUESTS COMING WITH YOU IF YOU CAN MAKE IT. UNFORTUNATELY, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE "MAYBES" AS I NEED ACCURATE GUEST COUNTS.
Hello everyone!
We are excited to announce our 2018 River Weekend Getaway and hope that many of you can join us. This will be a fun time with many friends and family but first, we must take care of some important issues regarding new rules and regulations for the park and our group. I would sincerely appreciate your consideration in reviewing this info so that there are no problems with any guests once we arrive.
I must reiterate this for EVERYONE... If anyone causes our event to be shut down for failing to comply with these rules/regulations, you will have a problem with not just Park Rangers but myself as well. As I mentioned in my Facebook post, if anyone cannot abide by the rules, I rather you not attend this outing. There, now I feel better so here is the info:
Dates: August 17 - 19, 2018
Park: Rio Vista San Marcos (address listed above)
Time: 7:00 am - Dusk both nights.
This year, Chris Perez and I have paid for and secured the covered pavilion for both days. There are plenty of tables and therefore, we do not need to bring pop-up tents. You can however bring your own folding chairs to sit near the river.
This area will be reserved for our group only!
New rules in place only allow for one (1) propane bbq grill at each picnic area so we will be contacting a few guests to see who may have a large grill for everyone to use. Becasue of this, I will be asking those guests who will be needing to grill to pay your part of the propane to the grill owner.
Park Rules (Striclty enforced by Park Rangers).
1). Alcoholic beverage consumption/
display prohibited.
2). No smoking or Vapor inhaled
devices allowed.
3). No glass containers
4). No styrofoam containers
5). Animals/pets to be restrained
at all times.
6). Propane grills only. No charcoal
or wood grills. Only 1 per picnic
area.
7). Only one (1) pop up tent per
picnic area.
8). Park Rangers patrol the area
constantly and may ask to see
contents of ice chests. If you are
caught with alcohol in your ice
chests, you WILL be issued a
citation. Should Park Rangers
ask us to shut down our event
due to anyone being caught
violating any of these rules, you
will be asked to pay for pavilion
fees since there are no refunds.
9). No folding tables allowed.
Parking: There is ample parking near the pavilion but it fills up fast! I recommend that everyone get there as early as possible to get a space nearby. If you come later after 9am, I can almost guarantee you will be walking quite a distance to get to our area. Parking nearby allows anyone wanting to consume alcohol to leave an ice chest in your vehicle and pouring into Yeti or solo-cups and not worry about Park Rangers checking your ice chests.
To get to our picnic pavilion, you go to CM Allen Parkway, take a right. Pass the stop sign and turn right into long driveway before the railroad tracks. Pavilion is at the end of the road and parking is available if you arrive early.
Food: This year, everyone will be responsible for bringing/cooking/preparing their own food. If you need use of the grill, be sure to get with the grill owner and pay the propane fee ($7 per day per use). Guests are also responsible for their own plates, cups, utensils, napkins etc. Any cutting boards or cooking utensils must also be brought as well as cleaning supplies to wash your equipment.
Beverages: Please bring your own water, sodas, juices etc. and if you'd like to bring extra to share, that would be greatly appreciated.
Clean up: Please help us keep our area clean! There are plenty of trash cans around the area.
Tubes: I strongly encourage everyone to mark your tubes/rafts with your name so that no one accidentally takes your property. Many of these look the same to mark them properly. There is an outlet to use plug in blowers to inflate our tubes. Each family will be responsible in inflating your own equipment.
Music: We will have music available for both days.
Hotel: We have secured the Best Western San Marcos as our Host hotel and rates are $127 per night. Space is very limited and its 1st come/1st serve. I strongly urge you to call now to reserve your room and avoid a higher rate later. Here is the info:
Best Western San Marcos. Ask for Mgr. Johnny and let him know you're with "Adam Martinez Group". Dates Aug 17 & 18, rate is $127 per night. First come/ first serve. Limited rooms available.
512-754-7559. Once confirmed, you will receive email with hotel address and check in/out info. Check out is on the 19th.
I will be updating this event periodically so keep an eye out for further details.
