🚨 SCAM ALERT PLEASE SHARE! 🚨

The Amelia County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a phone scam targeting citizens in our community.

Scammers are calling and pretending to be with the Sheriff’s Office, telling citizens they have missed jury duty and now owe a fine or fee. They may threaten that a warrant will be issued for your arrest if you do not pay immediately.
⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM‼️

The Amelia County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you and demand money over the phone to avoid arrest or a warrant.
If you receive one of these calls:
● Do not provide personal or financial information.
● Do not send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other form of payment.
● Hang up and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly if you are unsure whether a call is legitimate.

These scammers can be very convincing and may even make the caller ID appear legitimate.
Please share this post, and make sure your family members especially elderly relatives and neighbors are aware of this scam.

When in doubt, hang up and call us directly.

The fair is in full swing, so come enjoy the rides, food, games, vendors, and everything else the Amelia County Fair has to offer! 🎠🎟️🍿

And today from 1–3 PM, we’re trading the uniforms for the dunk tank! 💦😂

Stop by for your chance to dunk one of us and don’t worry, we’re sure there are a few people out there who have been waiting for this opportunity. 😏

Best of all, it’s for a great cause! Proceeds from the dunk tank will help support the Fair’s Scholarship Program. 🎓

Please be on the lookout for Missing Adult, Becky Jo Walton, White female, approximately 5'4, 135 pounds, eyes blue, curly brown hair. Subjects last point of contact was 8/5/26 in the morning to her mother via text message and subject's vehicle was last seen in Chesterfield County near Beulah Baptist church 8/3/26 at 1247pm. Subject is a known diabetic and does not have her insulin with her so she may be endangered at this time. If you see or come in contact with this subject, please immediately call 911 or your local sheriff's office so we may be notified of her recovery. We thank you for your assistance with this matter, any other information with this incident please call the Amelia County Sheriff's Office at 804 561 2118.

Despite the rainy weather, the 2026 Amelia National Night Out was a tremendous success, bringing our community together for an evening of fellowship, fun, and support.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all of the vendors, churches, businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community partners whose generosity made this event possible. Thanks to their donations and support, more than 350 bags of school supplies were distributed to local students and families, helping them prepare for a successful school year. We would like to also thank Archers BBQ, Toms Meats, Amelia Kitchen, WAWA, Red Carpet Restroom Rentals, Trainham Disposal,Amelia Food Lion,DJ Baddog, Spainville Store and Garage, and Woodman Life who helped us make this event happen.

Most importantly, thank you to the citizens of Amelia County who came out and made the event such a memorable evening. Your support and participation are what make National Night Out such a special tradition each year.

We are proud of what our community accomplished together and are already looking forward to making next year’s National Night Out even bigger and better.
