In the event of Emergency call ๐Ÿ“ฑ 911

โ€œPre-hospital emergency care in the modern age is often described as a โ€œhierarchyโ€ of human and physical resources utilized in the acute setting to provide the best possible care until definitive care can be establishedโ€

The Federal EMS Systems Act of 1973 provided funding for the creation of more than 300 EMS systems across the nation, as well as set aside funding for key future planning and gro

wth. In 1972, the University of Cincinnati established itself with the first Emergency Medicine program. By 1975, there were 32 Emergency Medicine Residencies across the nation preparing physicians that would interface with EMS at all levels from responders to educators. In 1976, several community leaders decided to form an Emergency Medical Service in Fayette County. Until this formation, prehospital care was provided by local funeral directors. Local funeral directors and community leaders were instrumental in the formation of the Fayette County Life Squad. Since 1976, there have been hundreds of selfless, civic-minded, dedicated volunteers and professional EMS Providers that have given themselves to protect our community. ๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrating 50 Years of FCEMSD - Share the Pride! ๐Ÿš‘

Fayette Countyโ€™s Life Squad has been saving lives and teaching safety for decades โ€” and as we head into the 50th Anniversary in 2026, letโ€™s shine a spotlight on the volunteers who built this legacy.

Big thanks to Tom Meriweather (Life Squad Coordinator), Elizabeth Smith, Dave T***s, and Kathy Setty for the hands-on demonstrations and tireless community service that keep our county safer every day. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

From ambulance and rescue response to free first aid & CPR training, car-disassembly demos for students, facility tours, event standby, and search-and-rescue support โ€” the Life Squadโ€™s 35 volunteers did it all.

Theyโ€™ve equipped the squad with modern rescue gear and the training to use it, and theyโ€™re always ready to assist other emergency services when called. โญ๐Ÿ“š

Help us honor these hometown heroes โ€” like, share, and tag someone who should know about Fayette Countyโ€™s Life Squad.

Letโ€™s make sure their next 50 years are even stronger! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿš‘ Throwback to 1979 โ€” As we gear up to celebrate Fayette County EMSโ€™ 50th Anniversary in 2026, hereโ€™s a heartwarming look at two archived articles (Jan 25, 1979) that show how community spirit built the Life Squad we know today. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Highlights:
Miller Equipment Co. and Robert Young donated a 40โ€‘channel CB radio, giving the New Holland unit vital communications with the county, police, and the hospital โ€” a game changer for patient care. ๐Ÿ“ปโœจ

The New Holland Lions Club pitched in $100 toward a โ€œStokesโ€ stretcher, helping crews safely reach and transport patients from hardโ€‘toโ€‘access places. ๐Ÿ›Ÿ
Village officials funded a reflectorized sign, and local businessmen and farmers helped provide housing for a new ambulance and a meeting place as the unit grew from six members to a larger team. ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ

From the second article: the Yโ€‘Gradale Sorority (Washington C.H.) raised funds for yellow fog lights to improve safety on rural roads, and Mrs. Cheryl Huffman presented money for four child blood pressure cuffs โ€” handed to coordinator Mary L. Lines to improve pediatric care. ๐Ÿ”ฆ๐Ÿฉบ

Unit leader John Rowland and president R. Todd Monroe are quoted as celebrating these community partnerships that strengthened emergency response across Fayette County. ๐Ÿ“ฃโค๏ธ

This is a beautiful reminder that our EMS was built by neighbors helping neighbors โ€” volunteers, local businesses, service clubs, and everyday citizens all pitching in. Share this piece of local history and tag someone who remembers these early days! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

๐ŸŽ‰ Fayette County EMS โ€” 50 Years Strong! ๐Ÿš‘โค๏ธ

Found this gem in the archives and had to share โ€” a spotlight on the Fayette County Life Squadโ€™s dedication, teamwork, and quiet heroism.

The article highlights how unpaid, highly trained volunteers answered calls, coordinated with hospitals, and kept our community safe night after night. Special shout-outs to Todd Monroe (Life Squad Vice President and author of the piece), Jane Williams (dispatcher), Geneva Hutchinson (crew leader), and crew members Harris and Overla for their service and steady hands.

โ€œCAUTION EXERCISED โ€” Crew leader Geneva Hutchinson checks for traffic in the intersection before proceeding.โ€ ๐Ÿšฆ

These volunteers werenโ€™t just responders โ€” they were neighbors who trained hard, practiced safe driving, and put patients first. Their teamwork and commitment built the foundation of the Fayette County EMS we celebrate today. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

Help us honor them โ€” like, share, and tag anyone who remembers these early Life Squad heroes or whoโ€™s served our community.

Letโ€™s make sure their story gets the recognition it deserves as we head into the 50th Anniversary in 2026! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ๐ŸŽŠ

๐Ÿ“ฃ EMS RECOGNITION DAY โ€” National EMS Week 2026

This week (May 17โ€“23), we join the nation in celebrating the lifesaving work of our Fayette County EMS District crews.

Friday is EMS Recognition Day โ€” a day to honor the EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and support staff who answer the call 24/7. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ’™

This yearโ€™s national focus highlights two complementary messages: โ€œImproving Outcomes, Together,โ€ which emphasizes advances in prehospital care and community partnerships, and โ€œWe Care. For Everyone,โ€ which underscores EMSโ€™s commitment to compassionate care for all.

We stand with both messages โ€” celebrating clinical progress and the human side of emergency care.

How you can help celebrate Fayette County EMS:
Leave a thank-you message below for a crew member who made a difference. ๐Ÿ™

Share a photo or story of a positive EMS experience (with permission). ๐Ÿ“ธ

From all of us in Fayette County โ€” thank you.

Your support keeps our crews strong and our community safer. โค๏ธ๐Ÿš‘

๐Ÿš‘๐ŸŽ“ Today, the Fayette County EMS District proudly recognizes and congratulates the graduating Class of 2026 from Miami Trace Local School District, Washington Court House City Schools, and Fayette Christian School! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿš‘

This milestone represents years of hard work, determination, late nights, early mornings, and probably enough caffeine to keep an ambulance station awake for a week. โ˜•๐Ÿ“š

To the graduates: your community is proud of you. Whether your next chapter leads to college, the workforce, military service, trade school, or adventures not even Google Maps can predict yet, we know you will represent Fayette County with pride and purpose.

Congratulations also to the parents, families, teachers, coaches, and staff who helped guide these students to this moment. Behind every graduate is a village that showed up, cheered loudly, and occasionally asked, โ€œDid you finish your homework yet?โ€ ๐ŸŽ‰

From all of us at Fayette County EMS District:

Stay safe. Dream big. Work hard. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ˜‚

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Your future is bright! ๐ŸŒŸ

Saveโ€‘Aโ€‘Life Day (National EMS Week 2026)
๐Ÿ“ฃ Headline: SAVEโ€‘Aโ€‘LIFE DAY โ€” CPR & STOP THE BLEED ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ National EMS Week 2026

Why this matters
๐Ÿ‘‰ Handsโ€‘only CPR can dramatically increase survival.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Studies show bystander compressionโ€‘only CPR can double survival to hospital discharge compared with no CPR.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Early action multiplies chances.

The American Heart Association reports that immediate bystander CPR can increase survival by up to 3ร— versus no intervention.

Every minute counts. Rapid chest compressions maintain blood flow to the brain and heart until professional help arrives; delaying compressions reduces the chance of a good outcome.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Act now โ€” push hard and fast.

๐Ÿ›‘ Stopping major bleeding saves lives ๐Ÿฉธ

Uncontrolled bleeding is a leading, preventable cause of death after trauma.

Simple actions โ€” direct pressure, packing the wound, and applying a tourniquet โ€” can stop lifeโ€‘threatening blood loss long enough for EMS to take over. Be ready to act.

Quick howโ€‘to (shareable, easy steps)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Handsโ€‘Only CPR: Call 911 โ†’ push hard and fast in the center of the chest at 100โ€“120 compressions/min until help arrives. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿš‘

๐Ÿ‘‰ Stop the Bleed: Expose wound โ†’ apply firm direct pressure โ†’ pack wound if needed โ†’ apply a tourniquet if bleeding is uncontrolled. ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿ›‘๐Ÿฉน

Share this message โ€” amplify the impact!

๐Ÿ“ฃ Please SHARE this post so neighbors, friends, and family know how simple actions can save lives.

Practice the steps, watch for training opportunities, and be ready to act. ๐Ÿ™Œโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

Note: Take advantage of every opportunity to learn and practice โ€” your actions can make the difference between life and death.

Why soft billing matters:
If residents were balance billed, families could face large, unexpected medical transport bills.

Instead:
โœ”๏ธ Insurance is billed
โœ”๏ธ Levy covers the rest
โœ”๏ธ No additional billing to district residents

Thatโ€™s your levy dollars at work.

Non-residents are billed fully for services.

Thank you for supporting local EMS services. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿš‘ Celebrating 50 Years of Service โ€” Honoring Our Past, Serving Our Future! ๐Ÿš‘๐ŸŽ‰

Today, weโ€™re proud to share a piece of our history โ€” a 2001 proclamation from the Fayette County Commissioners recognizing Fayette County EMS on its 25th anniversary and declaring Emergency Medical Services Week for May 20โ€“26, 2001.

That milestone reminds us how far weโ€™ve come thanks to the dedication of volunteers, EMTs, dispatchers, and community supporters.

This year, we celebrate an even bigger milestone โ€” 50 years of serving Fayette County! Half a century of answering the call, teaching CPR, preventing injuries, and saving lives.

To every past and present member of Fayette County EMS: thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and heart. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน๐Ÿ‘

Join us in celebrating โ€” share your memories, photos, and shout-outs below. Letโ€™s fill this post with gratitude for 50 years of service! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ“ธ
