Super special shout out to the Dispatchers at Cape May County Dispatch for the amazing job they are doing! They are swamped with calls and still making sure every call is handled in a timely manner and making tons and tons of calls to other resources flawlessly. Thank you as you do not hear it often you earned every dollar you made tonight.

FYI Goshen Road is impassable due to trees and wires down across the roadway in the 600 Block and the 700 Block. Williams street has wires and a tree down across the road and it's impassable.

Route 47 has trees down across the road around mile marker 15. They have been cut and pushed off the road as far as our crews could get them.

Hand ave is also impassable in the area of tick neck road.

If you need to travel please take it slow and watch out for emergency crews. Another note don't pass a fire truck on 47 on a bend returning from a call driving in a safe slow manner and then half mile up the road we find you in a ditch and put there lives in jeopardy a second time trying to help you for your negligence. This incident did happen tonight returning from a call please slow down. All emergency calls are being handled in the order of priority at this time

These are some of our incidents but there are a ton more incidents and roads closed or blocked by trees.

Please be patient and do not travel if not needed.
Safety note do not touch or get close to any wires and always assume all wires are live!

Atlantic County Health Officials Remind Residents of Bird Flu Precautions

As state officials investigate a suspected H5N1 bird flu outbreak with the discovery of more than 1,000 dead or dying geese across the state, the Atlantic County Division of Public Health reminds residents to avoid unprotected contact with sick or infected birds and other animals.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health the general risk of H5N1 bird flu to the public is low, with no human cases reported in the state at this time. Transmission to humans is rare, however, dogs and cats are susceptible to the disease and should avoid all contact with deceased birds.

Residents are asked to report sick and dead birds to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) by completing a reporting form available at: https://dep.nj.gov/njfw/highly-pathogenic-avian-influenza.

NJDEP will only respond to events involving significant numbers of dead birds. Protective measures should be taken if disposing carcasses including eye cover, masking, gloves and gown. Carcasses should be double-bagged before placing in trash.
