πŸŽ‡ Support the Fireworks That Light Up Our Sky!

The Washington Court House community has enjoyed a spectacular Fourth of July fireworks display for years, and it doesn't happen without community support. Fayette Fire In The Sky β€” the dedicated volunteer organization behind the show β€” is holding a Drive-Through T-Shirt and Donation Event this Saturday, May 30th from 9 AM to 1 PM right here at the Washington Court House Fire/Rescue Department.

Pick up a limited edition 2025 T-shirt commemorating Washington Court House's 250th anniversary with a $10 donation. Every dollar raised goes directly toward funding this year's show, set for Friday, July 3rd at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.

A few things worth knowing about this organization:

🧨 The entire crew that shoots the show donates their time β€” every year.

πŸ’₯ The show is funded entirely by donations β€” no public funding, no admission charge.

πŸŽ† The bigger the community response, the bigger the show.

WVNU-FM 975 will also be on-site during the event, so stop by, grab a shirt, and show your support for a tradition that belongs to all of us.
As Fire Chief, I'm proud to support this group and encourage our community to do the same. Stop by this Saturday and let's make July 3rd one to remember.

Veterans Day is for those who served and came home.

July 4th is for the freedom they protected.

Today is for the ones we lost.

πŸŽ“ Congratulations to the Class of 2026! πŸŽ“

Whether you walked across that stage with honors or simply made it to the finish line β€” you did it. And that matters more than you know.

Earning a diploma isn't just about grades or accolades. It's about the early mornings, the late nights, the setbacks you pushed through, and the moments you chose to keep going when it would have been easier to quit. Every single one of you demonstrated something we deeply respect here at WCHFD β€” perseverance, heart, and commitment.

As you step into this next chapter, we hope the memories you made along the way stay with you always. May the lessons you learned β€” inside the classroom and out β€” guide your path forward. And may the road ahead bring you success, purpose, and everything you've worked so hard for.

To every graduate, from every corner of our community: we are proud of you. Now go make your mark on the world. 🌟

πŸš’ Fire Safety Sound Off Program Update!

Over the past three weeks, Firefighter Dan and Firefighter John β€” with the support of Chief Downing and Assistant Chief Langley β€” have been hard at work bringing fire safety education into our local schools!

After spending time at Miami Trace Elementary School, they wrapped up this week's lessons right here in Washington Court House at Belle Aire Intermediate School. 🏫

The Sound Off program is all about teaching students the basics of home fire safety. Students take home assignments to help identify effective escape plans, spot fire hazards, and test their smoke alarms. Any homework that comes back showing a need for a working smoke alarm gets passed along to the fire department in that area β€” so we can help make sure every home has a working alarm. 🚨

These classes are about more than safety β€” they build teamwork, confidence, and who knows… maybe we're planting the seeds for a few future firefighters! πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

Thank you to our firefighters and school staff for making this program possible. Together, we're making our community safer, one household at a time.
