🚨 MONDAY MYTHBUSTER 🚨

Myth: After an accident, it’s okay to leave the scene and file a police report later.

Fact: Leaving the scene can create safety concerns and may make it more difficult to file a report later—especially if you are no longer in the jurisdiction where the accident occurred.

Always stop, check for injuries, exchange information, and contact 911 if needed.

Staying at the scene helps ensure accurate information is gathered, and everyone stays safe.

Thank you to Antonia Fire Protection District for inviting us to be part of Seckman Wake-Up Days this morning.

This impactful program gives students a real look at the consequences of impaired and distracted driving, and today, the Seckman students did an incredible job bringing that message to life.

Training Coordinator Manley, TC Lewis, and TC Notbusch did an outstanding job representing our agency's role in this type of incident. We’re grateful to be part of efforts like this that help educate, empower, and hopefully save lives.

⚠️ April Safety Tips ⚠️

Jefferson County 911 Dispatch is sharing ways to help keep our community safe all month long. This week’s focus: Phone & Text Scams 📱

Scammers can sound convincing—know the warning signs:
• Law enforcement will never ask for payment over the phone, text, or email
• They will not request payment using gift cards or cryptocurrency (like Bitcoin)
• They will not ask for payment through apps like Venmo or Zelle
• They will not pressure you with urgent deadlines (ex: “pay today or else”)

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. Call our non-emergency line at 636-797-9999 to verify.
Stay tuned for more safety tips next week!
