📣Special Announcement📣
On April 16, 1989, the Houma Fire Department welcomed a new Departmental Records Clerk—Mrs. Kimberly Dupre—who would go on to become the longest-serving employee in the department’s history.
After an incredible 37 years of dedicated service, Kim officially retired on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Throughout her career, Kim served under nine fire chiefs and supported hundreds of firefighters who passed through the doors of Houma Fire Central. Many began and ended their careers during her time, while she remained a steady and trusted presence in the central office. From paperwork, reports, payroll, and insurance claims to promotions, hirings, and retirements—Kim played a vital role in keeping the department running smoothly.
The Houma Fire Department, established in 1876, now recognizes Kim as its longest-serving employee. In her final years, she worked closely to train her successor, ensuring that her knowledge, organization, and systems would continue to support the department for years to come. Over the past few months, she gradually stepped back from her responsibilities, leaving everything in capable hands.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Kim, her husband Keith, their children, and grandchildren as she begins this well-earned chapter of retirement. Thank you, Kim, for your decades of commitment and service—you are truly part of our history. We look forward to honoring your contributions in our historical museum.
Enjoy every moment—you’ve earned it. And don’t be a stranger!
