Meet Mandy Verret

Candidate for Terrebonne Parish School Board – District 7-Ballot # 74

Mandy Verret is a lifelong member of the Terrebonne Parish community, a wife, mother of three daughters, former teacher, and dedicated advocate for children and families.

Mandy is a proud graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School and Nicholls State University. She and her husband, Jimmy Verret Jr., built their life and raised their three daughters here in Terrebonne Parish. With their family deeply connected to the local school system and community, Mandy understands that strong public schools play an important role not only in the lives of our children, but also in the future of our entire parish.

As a former teacher in the Terrebonne Parish School System for 6 years, Mandy understands education from inside the classroom. For the past six years, she has continued serving children and families through her work with Louisiana’s EarlySteps program, helping families of young children access services, resources, and support. Her experiences as an educator, mother, professional, parent representative, and volunteer have given her a well-rounded understanding of the needs of students, parents, educators, and families.

Now, she is ready to bring that experience, dedication, and commitment to the Terrebonne Parish School Board and be a strong voice for the families of District 7.

Meet one of our City Marshal's candidates: Herbert Fitch

Over the past 5½ years, I have worked hard to move this office forward through modernization, improved communication, and stronger law enforcement resources. We have upgraded our technology, implemented new
radio systems for better communication, introduced updated computer programs compatible with surrounding agencies, and added all new marked units to improve efficiency, visibility, and coordination throughout
Terrebonne Parish. For officer safety, we have purchased new, up-to-date bulletproof vests to ensure our deputies have the equipment they need to perform their duties safely. All our deputy marshals are POST Certified and maintain their yearly training. (Peace Officer Standards and Training)

I also brought the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system into our
office. NCIC is the FBI’s nationwide computerized database that provides law
enforcement agencies with 24/7 access to critical crime-related information, helping officers better protect and serve our community. Our office also has a Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) who oversees and manages the NCIC system to ensure compliance, security, and proper operation.

In addition, we implemented CentralSquare (formerly Zuercher), providing our office with modern tools for records management, reporting, and daily operations. This system has improved communication and coordination with other agencies throughout the parish. These improvements have strengthened professionalism, accountability, and the level of service we provide for the citizens of Terrebonne Parish.

Also, I am proud to be the first Marshal from Terrebonne Parish to serve as President of the Louisiana Constables and Marshals Association. In addition, a member of our office currently serves as District Vice President, reflecting the leadership and professionalism our office continues to bring to law
enforcement across our state. With 33 years of law enforcement experience, having retired from the
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, and currently serving as President of the Louisiana Marshals and Constables Association, I bring a lifetime of public safety service and leadership to this position. In addition to my law enforcement career, I served 30 years in the fire service, including as Fire Chief, where I was responsible for managing budgets, personnel, equipment, and daily operations. That experience gave me firsthand knowledge of balancing fiscal responsibility with the need to provide essential public
services.

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to the conservative principles of accountability, responsible government, public safety, and
service to our community. I believe my record demonstrates a commitment to these values and to ensuring that the Terrebonne City Marshal’s Office operates efficiently, professionally, and in the best interest of the citizens we serve.

Moving forward, I will continue building on the progress we’ve made.
