Tree House Family Resources, formerly known as The Keweenaw Family Resource Center, is home to the Tree House Indoor Playground. We offer a variety of programs and services to support families throughout the Copper Country. Are you looking to connect with other parents, sign up for a Parent Cafe. Summer is here in the Keweenaw, which means more time outside and more adventures on the water! ☀️🌊🚤⛵

No boat? No problem! 😄

At this week's My Grown-Up & Me playgroup, children put their engineering skills to the test 🛠️ by building their own tin foil boats and seeing how many toys could hitch a ride before their boats sank. 🚢🧸💦 Ms. Nikki also shared some fun stories all about boats! 📚⚓

"Sink or float" activities encourage children to make predictions 🤔, test their ideas 🔍, and learn through hands-on exploration. These experiences help children use past knowledge to solve new challenges and build confidence in their thinking. 🌟🧠

📣 Are you a parent who is passionate about helping children and families thrive?

Tree House Family Resources is seeking a dedicated parent to serve on our local Child Abuse Prevention Council.

As a council member, you'll work alongside community professionals to help shape child abuse and neglect prevention efforts across the Copper Country. By strengthening family supports, reducing stress, and building resilience, we can create safer, healthier communities for children and families.

The Council meets approximately five times per year, with the first meeting scheduled for September 2026.

There is no Playtime in the Park this Thursday, but there is OPEN PLAY! 🎉

🏠 Stop by the Tree House Indoor Playground tomorrow morning from 9:00 AM to Noon for indoor fun, exploration, and play.

Oh, what fun we had! ☀️🎉

Last Thursday’s kickoff to our summer Playtime in the Park series was AWESOME!

We received so many compliments about the fabulous fourth graders from Mrs. Wetton’s class at CLK Elementary! They spent the morning reading with children, playing together, and showing just how nice it is to make new friends. Thank you for helping make the day so special! ❤️📚

🌟 If you haven’t checked out our My Grown-Up & Me playgroup yet, we’d love to see you on Tuesday mornings from 10:00–11:30 AM!

🧊🐻 On this day, children took on an exciting challenge: rescuing toy animals trapped in ice! They made predictions about which tools or methods would work best, then tested their ideas through hands-on experimentation.

🔍 Activities like this do more than strengthen hand-eye coordination, they encourage persistence, problem-solving, and curiosity. Through trial and error, children learn an important lesson, “I am someone who can solve problems and figure out how the world works.” 💡✨

Yesterday, we did some behind-the-scenes moving as we relocated all of our staff — and LOTS of stuff! — to the Tree House Indoor Playground. 💪📦

Right there helping us move with smiles, a sense of humor, and plenty of muscle were some members of the Michigan Tech Huskies Football Team! We truly appreciated the guys graciously taking care of the heavy lifting and making the day so much easier. 🙏

Many area families have already been taking advantage of the Rx Kids program! ❤️👶

Infants born on or after March 1, 2026, and expectant mothers living in Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties are eligible to apply.

Upon verification:
💵 Moms receive $1,500 during pregnancy
👶 Babies receive $500 a month for 6 months after birth

Families can enroll anytime from 16+ weeks of pregnancy until a baby is six months old, as long as the baby was born after March 1, 2026.

This program is designed to help support local families during pregnancy and early childhood - with no income requirements and no strings attached.

Tomorrow’s the day! ☀️

Join us Thursday, May 28 from 10 AM–Noon at Lake Linden Park for our very first Playtime in the Park of the summer!

One of our favorite traditions returns as fourth graders from Ms. Wetton’s class at CLK Schools participate in one-on-one story time with children attending the event. Each child will receive the book they were read, along with a handwritten note of encouragement from their fourth-grade reading buddy. 💛📚

Playtime in the Park is designed especially for toddlers and preschoolers, but children of all ages and their families are welcome to join us for this FREE community event!
