The MTEFCU is proud to donate $2,000 to Western Upper Peninsula Food Bank!

Donations from our employees, funding from Michigan Credit Union League & Affiliates, and our Annual Meeting donation were combined to make this possible.

This money will purchase an amazing 25,000 pounds of food for our local area during this difficult time!

If you and your family are in need of assistance, please check out the information below regarding food distribution at the Western UP Food Bank.

UPCOMING DISTRIBUTION DAYS:
-Tuesday, May 19 from 9am-12pm
-Wednesday, May 27 from 10am-12pm

ALL YOU NEED TO PROVIDE IS:
-Your name
-Number of members of your household
-City you live in

If you are unable to make it to one of the distribution days listed above, or if you find yourself in an emergency situation without food, please call them (906-482-5528) anytime during business hours, and they will assemble a box for you.

Food insecurity is not as clear-cut as it may seem. The U.S. Department of Agriculture provided a clear visual representation of the national food insecure population in relation to employment status. It shows that many working families still struggle with food insecurity. In fact, over 62% of food insecure individuals are working. The majority of the remaining food insecure population are either retired or struggle with a disability.
