******PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT*****

The Hot Springs Police Department would like to address a growing nationwide trend involving “teen takeovers”. A "teen takeover" typically refers to large, spontaneous gatherings of teenagers organized through social media and messaging apps. While sometimes intended as simple meetups, they often overwhelm public spaces, and some have escalated into fighting, vandalism, and reckless behavior.
HSPD wants to let its residents and visitors know that we are committed to providing you a safe environment in which to live and visit. These “takeovers” are illegal and usually turn violent with many teenagers or young adults being arrested or hurt. We will not tolerate any such activities in Hot Springs and have put a plan in place to monitor and deter any similar events.
Just recently, HSPD learned of a planned event and were able to prevent it from occurring. There will be zero tolerance when dealing with anyone involved in criminal activity associated with these events in Hot Springs and want to remind parents that you can be held responsible for the actions of your children.
If you have information about any large gatherings of young adults and teenagers, you are encouraged to contact the Hot Springs Police Department at 501-321-6789.
