All clear. The Boil Water Advisory is rescinded as of 2:08 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Laboratory analysis of samples collected August 11 came back satisfactory, so it is no longer necessary to boil water for drinking, ice, brushing teeth, dishes, or cooking. It is no longer necessary to boil your water.

Before you go back to normal, give your plumbing a few minutes of attention. Run each cold tap for five minutes, then the hot ones. Empty the ice bin, then dump the next two or three batches too. Swap out your refrigerator or pitcher filter, since it was in service the whole time.

If you run a restaurant or an inn, flush your beverage machines and coffee makers before putting them back in service.

Rescinded by Mayor Abigail Norton and Certified Water Operator Justin Wood. Crews completed a significant main line repair and the system tested clean in about a day. Thank you for your cooperation.

More info: https://townofhotsprings.org/advisory/08112026/

The water consumers of The Town of Hot Springs, in Madison County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a main water line repair. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

Therefore, when water service is restored consumers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.
