The City of Hot Springs has issued a “Boil Water” notice for customers on 132 Catherine Park Road, 125 Old Camp Road, and 1200 Catherine Park.

The order was issued as a precautionary measure because of the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of a loss in normal system pressure from a water line break.

Under the 'Boil Water' order, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.

This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until lifted by the Department of Health when 1 set of 1 bacteriological samples indicate that the water is free of bacterial contamination and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.

How to find out if your school district is having an election:
- Call your county clerk's office or school district office
- Check your voter registration status on the Secretary of State's website, https://www.voterview.ar-nova.org/VoterView. Most counties will add sample ballots to the website.

Election Day for school districts is the same day your city or county may be having a special election. Your sample ballot on the Secretary of State's website should show if there is a local election. Due to the possibility of severe weather in the forecast, the City of Hot Springs Stormwater Division is canceling the weekly emergency siren test that would have occurred at noon today, April 2. If the sirens do sound today, it will not be a test and residents should take immediate action.

Operations will return to the regular weekly testing next Wednesday, April 9.

The emergency sirens alert residents outside of their residences to take action concerning impending severe weather. The National Weather Service distributes these notices.

Citizens can also receive emergency messages or weather alerts for their area through CodeRed. This free notification system, which is provided by the City of Hot Springs, offers individuals the choice of receiving alerts via email, text or phone call.

Due to strong and gusty winds forecast for Friday, Mar. 14, the Hot Springs Fire Department has issued a one-day burn ban for the city, effective at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, Mar. 14.
The burn ban prohibits all controlled burning within city limits, and its extension will be reevaluated tomorrow.

****SCAM ALERT****
The HSPD wants to make our community aware of the latest Bitcoin Scam in our area.

Victims are receiving a pop up on their computer claiming to be Microsoft. The pop up will lock the screen and require the victim to call a provided phone number. Upon calling that number the suspect will convince the victim that someone has access to their banking accounts. Often times the suspect will transfer the victim to a second or third suspect who claims to be from their bank, who may even appear to have access to the victim’s accounts. The victim will receive instructions to withdraw as much cash as possible and deposit it into a Bitcoin ATM, with a wallet address provided by the suspect. The suspect will strongly encourage the victim to not call anyone else or ask for help. Once the money is deposited into the Bitcoin ATM, the scammer now has the funds.

Real banks will NOT have you remove money and place it into a different account unless in person in a local branch. They will NEVER require you to put money into a Bitcoin ATM.

If encountered simply power off computer and contact your local financial institution and inquire if further action is needed.
