Hot Springs Village Police Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend, whether you’re relaxing at home or spending time on one of our beautiful lakes.

This holiday weekend also marks the official launch of the department’s new Marine Patrol Unit. Officers will be actively patrolling Lake Cortez, Lake Coronado, and Lake DeSoto throughout the weekend to help ensure a safe environment for all boaters and visitors.

As summer lake season begins, residents and guests can expect to see the Marine Patrol Unit regularly on our busiest lakes. In addition to promoting boating safety and community engagement, officers will also enforce Arkansas boating laws, including regulations related to reckless operation, vessel registration, required safety equipment, and boating under the influence.

The department’s goal is simple: to help everyone enjoy the lakes safely and return home without incident. Don’t be surprised if Marine Patrol officers pull alongside your boat to say hello, answer questions, or share boating safety information.

If you see officers out on patrol this summer, feel free to stop and visit with them or ask questions about Arkansas boating laws and lake safety.

On Wednesday, the Hot Springs Village Police Department stood in solemn unity with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, Hot Springs Police Department, and the National Park Service for the annual Police Memorial Ceremony.

The ceremony brought together law enforcement officers, first responders, families, and community members to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It served as a solemn reminder that behind every badge is a commitment to serve others with courage, integrity, and selflessness.

During the ceremony, wreaths were placed in remembrance of the fallen, and agencies stood side by side in reflection and gratitude for those who gave their lives protecting their communities. Their sacrifice and dedication will never be forgotten.

We are thankful for the continued support from our community and for the opportunity to stand together in honoring the legacy of our fallen heroes during National Police Week. Please continue to keep the families of fallen officers, as well as those currently serving, in your thoughts and prayers.

Today’s Drug Take Back event was a tremendous success for our community.

Thanks to the support and participation of our residents, retired Chicago police, Sergeant Detective Andrew Jones and HSVPD Detective Tom Maxwell collected over 530 pounds of unused and expired medications for proper and safe disposal. This effort helps prevent misuse, reduces the risk of accidental poisoning, and keeps harmful substances out of our environment.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to stop by and do their part. Initiatives like this are a direct reflection of a community that values safety, responsibility, and proactive prevention.

Thank you for helping us make a difference.
