Science in action! Ms. Farmer’s third graders investigated how the sun’s energy affects different colors over time. Working in groups, students read thermometers, recorded temperature data, and analyzed their results. They discovered that darker colors absorb more solar energy and heat up more!

Jackson County High School’s home football game scheduled for tonight is delayed one hour, with kickoff tentatively set for 8:30 pm inside Panther Stadium.

On this Patriot’s Day, our fifth-grade students came together to remember and honor the heroes of September 11th.

Their program was reflective, respectful, and meaningful as they shared what they have learned about September 11, honored the lives that were lost, and recognized the courage and sacrifice of the many first responders and everyday heroes who answered the call that day.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtfulness and respect our students demonstrated as they helped us remember this important part of our nation's history.

We are also grateful to our Heroes PTO for organizing a special breakfast for our first responders and the students of first responders following the ceremony.

Tomorrow, September 11, we pause to honor and remember those whose lives were lost on 9/11 and recognize the courage and service of the many heroes who responded.

We invite our students to wear red, white, and blue tomorrow as we come together in remembrance and gratitude.

Yesterday, we kicked off our Boosterthon Fundraiser, and we are so excited to get started!

This fundraiser will help support some exciting upgrades to our HES field, including additional seating, shade coverings, storage for toys and equipment, and more!

As a school, we have already raised over $4,000! 🎉 We think we can make it even further toward reaching our goal of $50,000 for field upgrades.

Ms. Menard’s fifth graders are preparing for Patriots Day and our own 9/11 ceremony by learning about September 11 through memorials and primary source documents. Students have been working in jigsaw groups, carefully analyzing historical documents, discussing what they’re learning, and then bringing that knowledge back to their primary groups to teach their classmates.

It has been so meaningful to watch our students approach such an important part of our history with curiosity, thoughtfulness, and respect. We are proud of the care they are showing as they learn, reflect, and prepare to honor the lives and stories connected to September 11.
