Shame and childhood emotional neglect are deeply connected, and it does not get talked about enough.
When a child's emotional world is consistently unmet, they do not have the developmental capacity to understand that their caregiver has limited emotional range. They understand it as something being wrong with them. Too needy. Too sensitive. Too much.
That belief goes underground and shapes everything. How you move through relationships. How you talk to yourself. How quickly you abandon your own needs the moment someone else seems uncomfortable.
It is not who you are. It is what you learned in an environment that did not have room for your full self.
The new post on childhood emotional neglect and emotional loneliness is on the blog now. Link in bio.
