🌱 Keep Your Lawn Green & Our Waterways Clean 🌧️
When you’re done working on your lawn, be sure to sweep or blow any grass clippings, dry fertilizers, or pesticides back onto the lawn area — not into the street.

Grass and leaves can quickly clog storm drains, which may lead to flooding during rain events. Yard waste dumped near streams or waterways can also harm aquatic life. As organic matter decomposes in water, it uses up oxygen that fish and other wildlife need to survive.

Did you know? Leaving grass clippings on your lawn actually helps your yard! Clippings work as a natural fertilizer by returning nutrients to the soil, helping keep your lawn healthy and green.

🍂 Composting is another great option!
Compost adds nutrients to your soil, helps retain moisture, and reduces runoff. Gardens and lawns thrive when enriched with organic matter and composting also helps reduce kitchen and yard waste.

Spending this beautiful morning down at Grove Street Boat Launch teaching kids with the Enviroscape model! 🌎💧

This hands-on model helps teach kids about different types of land use, how pollution impacts our waterways and environment, and most importantly, how they can be part of the solution. From storm drains to runoff, it’s amazing to watch them connect the dots and learn how small actions can make a big difference for our planet. 🌱♻️
