Station 4 was alerted for the automatic fire alarm. En route, Chief 46 was told by communications that proper passcode was received by homeowner and was wishing to cancel the fire dept. Per station 4 policy, Engine 45 continued in to confirm no fire dept services were needed. Upon arriving, members attempted to locate a homeowner. When no one came to the door, they completed a 360 of the residence and found someone needing medical attention at the rear of the home. Another member investigated the alarm and found food burning on the stove. EMS was called and tended to the patient while members of our station took care of the stove and ventilation. This is a prime example of why automatic fire alarms should always be treated as true emergencies! Job well done, Station 4!
