On May 13, 2026, Horizon City Police Department officers responded to a structure fire in the 14000 block of Cow Tongue Drive.

Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews from multiple agencies responded quickly and were able to bring the fire under control by approximately 9:46 p.m.

The incident was investigated by HCPD Criminal Investigations Division with assistance from the El Paso Fire Department Arson Investigations Unit. Preliminary findings indicate the fire was caused by faulty wiring inside the home.

Tragically, a 77-year-old female and four of her pets lost their lives as a result of the fire.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking loss.

Horizon City Police Department would like to thank all responding emergency personnel for their swift response and continued dedication to public safety.

Today, we had some very special visitors at the Horizon City Police Department! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’™

Bryson, age 6, and Brayden, age 4, stopped by with their mom, Ashley, to take a tour of our new police department building. The boys had the opportunity to explore the station, meet our officers, and learn a little more about law enforcement.

To make their visit even more memorable, they also received some fun goodies from our department! ๐ŸŽ

Thank you to Ashley, Bryson, and Brayden for visiting us today. We loved having you at our new home! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Officers from the Horizon City Police Department had a great time attending Career Day at Lancaster Elementary School!

Our officers enjoyed speaking with students about law enforcement, the importance of staying safe, and making smart choices on social media. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the children, answer questions, and encourage positive and safe online habits.

We would like to thank Lancaster Elementary School for the warm hospitality and for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful event. We truly appreciate the opportunity to engage with the students and staff! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ This past weekend, FBI NA Session 298 proudly participated in the National Police Week 5K held in Arlington, Virginia.

Among those representing were Sgt. Bryan Avitia from the Horizon City Police Department and Lt. Oscar Torres from the El Paso County Sheriffโ€™s Office, who completed the run in honor and memory of Deputy Sheriff Peter J. Herrera.

Their participation served as a meaningful tribute to Deputy Herreraโ€™s service, sacrifice, and lasting legacy. We continue to remember and honor all fallen heroes who gave their lives in service to their communities. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค
