Vietnam Veterans Inc. of Fayette County held their first meeting in February 1984. The main goal of VVI is to perpetuate through association, the close brotherhood we shared in battle and to further aid our cause in obtaining our just rights to all veterans benefits afforded to us by law and which we justly earned in the Armed Forces of our country in a war not of our choosing. In pursuit of our c

ause we have grown in membership from our Charter of 10 to the present total of 148. We have a memorial wall for the KIA, MIA, and POW's of Fayette County. The memorial honors the 49 Fayette veterans who died during the Vietnam War and the one serviceman who is missing in action. Every May, the organization sponsors a 24-hour vigil at the memorial outside the AMVETS Post on Buttermilk Lane. The 2020 vigil has been cancelled due to the Corona Virus epidemic. First time ever we had to cancel. We will be honoring our fallen and missing brothers in our hearts only this year. Our color guard does military funeral services and they are very dedicated. We are losing too many of our brothers too soon.

Closing ceremony, beautiful program, great men and families. The key note speaker, Mr. Shwallen, LH teacher was great. Added a special touch when he spoke of Russell Naugle, one of our 50 fallen from Fayette. Naugle was a true hero. His story was very interesting. ♥️🤍💙
