The proclamation recognizes the history, culture, contributions, and achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans and celebrates the important role they continue to play in our community and across the nation.

Important notice for residents, contractors, and developers:

Building Code services will be limited from Wednesday, September 16, through Wednesday, September 23, while staff completes the transition to the City of Hopkinsville.

During this time, the city will conduct only required inspections and inspections that have already been scheduled.

Beginning Thursday, September 24, Building Code will be fully operational under the City of Hopkinsville.

Last week, Hopkinsville paused to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

This week, that remembrance continues through a story about what happened in the days that followed — when, during one of our nation’s darkest moments, people chose compassion.

Come From Away tells the true story of the small community of Gander, Newfoundland, where 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted after U.S. airspace closed. Residents opened their homes, schools, churches and community spaces to complete strangers.

As we continue to reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11, this story reminds us not only of what we lost, but of the humanity, generosity and unity that followed.

Community and Development Services will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed amendment to the Hopkinsville Zoning Ordinance related to data centers.

The proposed amendment would:
• Define data centers and related terms
• Establish standards for their siting, construction, installation and operation
• Identify the zoning districts where different types of data centers may be permitted
