Demo derby!

Not only are many of your district 8 deputies peace officers, but we are also firefighters with various departments and EMS professionals.

We had deputies working in their other roles last night, keeping you safe in more ways than one.

It's hard to replace literally thousands of hours of cummlative training, experience, dedication, and the willingness to serve for no cost to the taxpayers.

Please remember that on election day!

We were happy to be able to provide overnight security to the vendors, campers, and participants at this events this past weekend.

We are always working for YOU.

A nice crowd attended the Hopkinsville Tractor and Engine Shaw Friday and Saturday at Cherokee Park in Hopkinsville. One of the highlights was the Parade of Power Saturday morning. The Edge Media Groups News and Farm Director Alan Watts was the Master of Ceremonies for the parade.

We have been serving YOU for many years, with Constable Haddock leading a team of Experienced, Trained, Courteous professionals.

One of the things that he told me when I was sworn in, is that we are PEACE officers first. Not cowboys out to "rule the roads".

We are always working, usually behind the scenes, for the people.

We do not do it for the photo ops, for the glory, or for ourselves. We understand that we are here for YOU.

From 988lifeline.org :

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Su***de Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

The current Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, even after 988 is launched nationally.

We think that this is a great step to making Su***de Prevention more readily available.

Remember, you never know what someone else is going through, be kind!

WHEW, this heat is awful!

We all here at District 8 hope everyone is staying safe and cool.

Please remember to check on the elderly, and keep an eye on your animals during this hot time of the year!

If you have any concerns about a neighbor, friend, or relative, do not hesitate to call our Emergency Communications Center at (270) 890 - 1300 and they will send someone to do a welfare check!
