Labor Day Break Reminder:
There will be no school tomorrow (Friday, September 4th) or Monday, September 7th for the holiday weekend. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, September 8th!

Good morning HES Families!

It’s been an AMAZING first week of school! We realize that it’s been tough to go from no school to a full week to start the year, but your kids have been doing great! We appreciate your partnership in starting good habits early. This past week, our teachers have worked with your children to develop classroom contracts. These are the non-negotiables in their classroom that the students and teachers develop together. Our staff has also worked with your kids on establishing classroom routines and procedures.

Below is our newest edition of our Newsletter/Good News! Next week on Wednesday is our picture day! Teachers will or already have sent home ordering information (QR code on the form). The only time you will be able to order yearbooks this year is in the fall when you order pictures from the QR code.

One other note, if your child is in need of Hand2Hand meals (meals to take home for the weekend/extended breaks) please use the QR code in the newsletter to sign up. This is free.

Have a great weekend and just a reminder, next week is a 4 day school week. There is no school on Friday, 9/4 or Monday, 9/7.

🎉 Exciting news, HES Families—the 2026–2027 school year kicks off this Monday, August 24th! 🎒✨

We can’t wait to welcome our students back! Here is everything you need to know to make Day 1 smooth and stress-free:

⏰ School Hours

School Day: 7:45 AM – 2:55 PM

Breakfast Arrival: 7:25 AM (for students eating breakfast at school)

General Arrival: 7:35 AM

🏫 First Day Drop-Off (Young 5s & Kindergarten)

Parents of Young 5s and Kindergarteners are welcome to walk their child to class on Monday, August 24th.

Starting Tuesday, please say your goodbyes at the front door. We’ll have plenty of friendly staff ready to guide them safely to their classrooms.

Have a wonderful weekend, rest up, and we'll see you all bright and early on Monday morning!

Greeting HES Families! ☀️
We hope everyone is having a relaxing and enjoyable summer break! As August begins, we want to start sharing some important information for the 2026–2027 school year.

📩 Check Your Mailboxes!
You should have received a letter in the mail from Hopkins Elementary School containing your child’s teacher assignment, a supply list, and a welcome-back letter. If you haven't received yours, please contact the main office at 269-793-7286.

⚠️ Important Date Correction:
There was a typo in the mailed letter regarding our Open House. It listed the date as Monday, August 19th. The correct day is Wednesday, August 19th!

🗓️ Upcoming Key Dates
🏫 Open House — Wednesday, August 19, 2026
3:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Annual Title I Meeting (Optional)
4:00 PM – 4:45 PM: Families with last names A–L
4:45 PM – 5:30 PM: Families with last names M–Z
Note: Everyone will start the evening in the gym for a brief welcome before heading to the classrooms to visit and meet the teachers!

August 24: First Day of School! 🎒
September 4 & 7: No School (Labor Day Weekend) 🇺🇸

As we start planning for the next school year, we want to remind our families that if your child needs medication while at school, an updated Medication Administration form must be on file for the 2026-2027 school year. This includes over-the-counter medications and prescription medications (including EpiPens and Inhalers). If your child needs a prescription medication administered while at school, their Primary Care Provider must complete a portion of the form.
