IT'S OPEN!

The new playground is officially complete and ready for use. The wood chips are down, the ground is level, and it's time for the kids to enjoy it.

Thank you for your patience while we put on the finishing touches. We can't wait to see it put to good use. ❤️

ALMOST THERE — but not quite yet!

The playground equipment is in and it's looking great; but, it needs just a little more love before it's ready for its big debut!

Before we can officially open, we need to install a wood chip base and level out the ground.

We're asking everyone to please hold off on using the new playground this weekend so we can get it finished safely. It's SO close — we just want to make sure it's 100% ready for your kiddos to enjoy!

We expect to open next week, so stay tuned for the official green light!

Thanks for your patience, Hopkins — good things are worth the wait!

🎉 BIG NEWS! We're thrilled to announce that our playground is getting a brand-new makeover — and the excitement starts soon!

Starting in April, we'll be breaking ground to remove some of the existing equipment to make way for an amazing new play space that our kids and families are going to absolutely love. 🚧✨

This upgraded playground will bring new equipment, new adventures, and new memories for everyone in our community. We can't wait to see the smiles on your little ones' faces when it's all complete!

Along the way, we'll also be improving some of the groundwork beneath your feet! Stay tuned right here for progress updates and the big reveal — the best is yet to come! 🔔

Special thanks and shout out to our AMAZING contributors at the Hopkins DDA, Hopkins Township, Hopkins Lions Club, Monterey Township, Sebright Products, and many others we'll me mentioning here in the coming week!

Many of our loved ones who've passed on call Maplewood their final home.

Contact Cole Stafford at 616-546-5342 to sign up if you or anyone you know is interested in helping.

This is a great opportunity for any students who may need community service hours for their respective organizations!

Thank you, Cole, for organizing a great opportunity to honor them!

OUTAGE UPDATE:

Due to the forecasted weather we are postponing the outage originally planned for this evening to the backup date of March 19.

Please see the map and following message from Consumers Energy -

"Consumers Energy, in coordination with our partners at ITC, will be conducting a planned electric outage to upgrade high voltage lines in the Hopkins/Wayland area on March 19). The outage will take place starting at 11 pm for a maximum of 8 hours. We will monitor for extreme cold weather as well.

The outage will affect over 3,000 customers in the areas indicated on the maps. Customers will receive a postcard prior to the outage, and we will be doing media outreach because it is a large outage."

Hi all! Trick-or-Treating is less then an hour away. A couple friendly reminders:
Firefighters will be assisting with crossing Main Street from 5-7pm, we highly encourage trick-or-treating during the times they are out there. For the safety of all we also encourage to only cross Main Street where a firefighter is located. Also our friends at the Hopkins United Methodist Church (brick church on the corner of Elm & Maple St) will have their restrooms open to the public. They also said they will have a FREE hotdog dinner and some other sweet treats, so stop on by. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!!!
