Beacon Theatre was designed by Fred Bishop, the same architect as the Byrd in Richmond. Built in 1928 by the Knights of Pythias it began as a silent movie and Vaudeville show palace. Stars such as Sally Rand, (famous burlesque dancer); Lash LaRue, Cowboy performer who taught Harrison Ford how to crack a whip performed in the Beacon in the 1930′s-1940′s. In the 1950′s-1970′s, The Beacon was primari

ly a movie house. Many of the young and old alike of Hopewell met their sweethearts for date night. During that time there were many attempts to breath life back into the old theater, however none were successful until 1999. A group of citizens with the help of the City were able to complete Phase 1 to stabilize the decline and open event space. However, restoring more was beyond the funds available. In 2011, the project was returned to the City of Hopewell. City Council took action to finish the project in time for the centennial celebration of Hopewell in 2015. Their goal was to restore the Beacon to play a major role in the cultural and recreational life of the area. By 2012 a restoration design for the Theater and backstage was complete and renovation began. As a historic building the Theater was eligible for historic tax credits which will return funding to the overall investment of $4.2 million.

At this point in time, most bands in their position would be content to lay back, rest on their rock ‘n’ roll laurels and trot out the hits on endless repeat for the fans. Instead, L.A. Guns, in true down ‘n’ dirty form, are grinding with the release of their 15th studio album, LEOPARD SKIN. “There’s the saying, ‘a leopard never changes its spots,’” founding guitarist Tracii Guns says. “But even so, they have a million different spots. And they’re all unique. It’s the same with L.A. Guns. We can’t shed our leopard skin, but there’s a lot of different spots in this band.”

Micky Dolenz is best known as a vocalist and drummer of the 1960’s pop legends The Monkees. The Monkees not only achieved great success as a TV show, but also as recording artists selling in excess of 65 million units, and achieving worldwide success. Their first four albums–THE MONKEES (1966); MORE OF THE MONKEES (1967); HEADQUARTERS(1967); and PISCES, AQUARIUS, CAPRICORN AND JONES, LTD. (1967) all reached the number-one position on the charts and launched three number-one singles: “Last Train to Clarksville,” “I'm a Believer” (both with lead vocals by Micky), and “Daydream Believer.” The group's first five albums also went platinum. Micky has also released several critically acclaimed solo albums: KING FOR A DAY; REMEMBER; and A LITTLE BIT BROADWAY; ALITTLE BIT ROCK AND ROLL. The Monkees also re-grouped for a 50th anniversary album in 2016 entitled GOOD TIMES on Rhino.

The SteelDrivers are a bluegrass band from Nashville, Tennessee. While there's a strong traditional streak in the SteelDrivers' sound, they bring a passion to their delivery that adds a distinctive flavor, and forceful grit adding undertones of blues, soul, and rock. The band took home the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2015 for The Muscle Shoals Recording. 2021 brought the latest member on board, lead singer Matt Dame. The quintet celebrated their “20th Anniversary” in 2025 and released an Album on Sun Records which received the Grammy Nomination for Best Bluegrass album.
