Well butter my biscuits, y’all made it to Wednesday! 💕

That’s right, sugar—we’re halfway through the week. If you’ve been holdin’ on by a thread, runnin’ on coffee, or countin’ down the hours ‘til the weekend, I’m here to tell ya to keep on keepin’ on.

Now, me? I’ve spent my day supervisin’, askin’ for pets, chirpin’ at folks who walk by, and remindin’ everyone that a little affection can fix just about anything.

So take a note from a Southern lady like myself: stretch those legs, hold that tail high, and don’t let the rest of the week boss you around.

Now go get ‘em today, sugar! And hey, if your lookin’ for a reason to smile, I happen to be acceptin’ applications for my forever cuddle buddy. 💗

XOXO,
Ellie Mae

Our mission as a no-kill rescue is to protect every cat in our care but we can’t fight shelter overcrowding alone. As you can see from the statistics below, spaying and neutering is the single most effective way to stop the cycle of euthanasia across the US at overcrowded shelters.

That is why we strictly ensure every cat we adopt out is altered. If you or someone you know needs assistance to fix a personal pet or an outdoor colony, message us! We have a list of local low-cost and no-cost options to help you find assistance.

Do you suffer from an empty couch, an un-furred lap, and a severe deficit of attitude in your daily life?

Well, suffer no more! Introducing Kylie, the revolutionary and rare 3-year-old solution designed to bring maximum s***k directly into your living room! If you look closely, you can see her patented, high-definition “I’m listening, but I’m also completely in charge” face.

But wait, there’s more! Unlike standard models, Kylie comes equipped with a fiercely independent “Only-Child” setting. While she technically tolerates other felines from a safe distance, sharing a roof or sharing your affection is an absolute dealbreaker. She wants to be your one and only, meaning 100% of the glory, 100% of the treats, and 100% of the spotlight belong exclusively to her.

Kylie is well past the chaotic, curtain-climbing kitten phase, but she still possesses plenty of playful spirit to keep you thoroughly entertained. If you have zero other cats and a vacancy for a tiny ruler who will supervise your cooking, criticize your television choices, and run your household with an iron paw, Kylie is your girl!

Today, we honor and remember K-9 Knight, a Chesterfield Police K9 who lost his life serving and protecting the citizens of our area heroically yesterday afternoon.

A 5-year-old German Shepherd/Malinois mix from Slovakia, Knight faithfully served alongside his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, for the past four years. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond built on trust, loyalty and a shared commitment to protecting our community.

Throughout his career, Knight assisted in numerous operations involving tracking and apprehension, helping officers safely carry out their mission and return home to their families.

Knight was named after the knights of old who lived by a code: protecting others through honor and bravery. He embodied that spirit every day he wore the badge.

Knight’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the officers he served beside and the community he helped protect.

Knight is survived by his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, his family, and the many members of our department who were fortunate enough to know and work alongside him.

Thank you for your service, Knight. We will NEVER forget your sacrifice.

Meet Alice: The One and Only Star of Your Home! 🌟

This is the face of a lady who knows exactly what she wants, and right now, she wants a forever home! At 9 years young, Alice is a stunning black cat with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She is officially ready to find a family that will appreciate her exactly as she is, fabulous sass completely included.

Alice firmly believes that a house is only big enough for one feline royalty. Because of this, she prefers to be your only cat, meaning there will be absolutely no need for anyone else trying to steal her well-deserved spotlight.

If you’re looking for an excellent conversationalist, Alice is your girl. She absolutely LOVES to talk and will chirp happily at you to demand the attention she rightfully deserves. When she isn’t chatting, she’s likely looking for her next fix, as she is a truly BIG fan of catnip.
While she is currently working on her figure, she’s looking for a human who loves a girl with a little extra plush to cuddle. If you are ready for a loyal, vocal, and beautifully sassy house queen, Alice is waiting for you! 🖤

Our hearts are absolutely melting today! Remember our sweet boy Asher? Well, he has officially found his forever castle, and he’s sporting a brand-new name to match his charming personality: Casanova! His amazing new family let us know that he was renamed because he is just such an absolute lover boy, and honestly, we couldn't agree more.

Casanova is already living his best life and acclimating beautifully to his new home. He didn't just win over his humans though, he is already making fast friends and getting along wonderfully with both the resident dog and cat! 🐱🐶

We are always so incredibly thankful when our adopters send us updates. Seeing the kitties we loved and cared for thriving, happy, and so deeply loved in their new homes is exactly why we do what we do!

Please join us in wishing Casanova and his wonderful family a lifetime of love, cuddles, and happiness! ✨

NEW RACER APPROACHING THE STARTING LINE! 🏎️

Meet Yoshi, one of the sisters of our Mario Kart crew! At just 4 months old, this gorgeous diluted tortie is ready to steal your heart - though she might take a lap or two to get her engines revved up.

Unlike her video game namesake, our Yoshi is one of the quieter sisters in her litter. She isn’t shy, though; she’s just a master strategist! Just look at those incredibly expressive, built-in peach “eyebrows” - you can practically see the little gears turning in her head! Before she jumps into a playtime grand prix, she likes to sit back, observe her siblings, and map out the track. She’s the type of kitten who wants to see exactly how it’s done before she makes her big move. But once she knows the ropes? She’s all in for the fun!

With her beautiful pastel tortie coat, thoughtful personality, and worried-but-cute little face, she is the perfect mix of sweet, smart, and playful.

⚠️ Kitten Adoption Policy
To prevent “Singleton Syndrome” (behavioral issues from growing up alone), kittens under 6 months old must go to a home with an existing cat or be adopted in pairs so Yoshi has a co-op partner for life!

Think you have the perfect home track for this sweet, expressive girl (and maybe one of her siblings)? Drop us a message to meet Yoshi! 🏁🐾

Meet Tazia, a stunning 4-month-old tortoiseshell kitten who is officially ready to find her forever family.

If you’ve ever owned a tortie before, you know just how special they are. They are famous for their big personalities, fiercely loyal hearts, and gorgeous, unique fur patterns. Tazia is no exception, and she is truly the best of both worlds!

She has just the right amount of that fun tortie spark, making her incredibly playful and entertaining when she’s chasing toys or doing kitten zoomies. But once she burns off that energy, her sweet side takes over; she absolutely loves to unwind, cuddle up, and relax right alongside her favorite people.

Tazia also happens to be a social butterfly who loves being around other feline friends with a similar vibe. Because she is still a youngster under 6 months old, she does need to either be adopted with a buddy or go to a home that already has a friendly cat. This helps prevent “singleton syndrome,” ensuring she grows up with the proper socialization, boundaries, and a playmate to keep her company!

If you are ready to add a little tortie magic to your life, Tazia would love to meet you. Send us a message or fill out an application today!

Happy Friday, everyone! We have the absolute perfect way to kick off your weekend, meet the gorgeous Selena!

At just two years old, this sweet tabby is the ultimate mix of curious, affectionate, and loyal. While she might act just a little bit shy for the very first minute she meets you, don’t let that fool you; the absolute second you start petting her, she completely warms up and transforms into the ultimate lap cat.

Selena has two major passions in life: loving her people and keeping a watchful eye on her kingdom. She is a big fan of having high vantage points where she can look out the windows at the world, or simply watch over her humans to make sure they’re safe. Plus, she gets along wonderfully with other cats, making her a fantastic addition to just about any family!

Want to meet her? We officially reopen to the public on June 8th, but you don’t have to wait! Fill out our online adoption application to get pre-approved, and we’ll set up a time for you to come meet her. Please share to help Selena find her forever home! 🐱❤️

While Thunder usually leaves the heavy lifting to the pros, he’s taken his new title very seriously - hard hat, tool belt, and all! ⚡️🌩️

The recent bad storm fast-tracked our timeline and brought some real-life “thunder” our way. It seems the universe decided our planned renovations needed to happen just a little bit sooner than we expected!

To get these upgrades done safely and quickly, we will be temporarily closed to the public and our volunteers, reopening on June 8.

The silver lining? When we open our doors back up, we will finally have a fresh, brand-new look that allows us to have a waiting area and more comfortable enclosures to decrease the stress of the shelter noises for our cats. This update is very much needed, as our building hasn’t been updated since before we first moved in.🛠️✨

We want to extend a massive thank you to Harlan Construction for their incredibly generous assistance and donation to make this project possible!

Why this matters:
For the Cats: It allows us to provide even better care in a modernized space with larger enclosures, less noise, and age group rooms to decrease stress (especially with our kittens and their constant energy). 🐱

For You: It ensures a safe and comfortable environment for our dedicated staff, amazing volunteers, and future adopters, including a waiting room and Meet and Greet room for one-on-one time with potential adopters and cats. 🤗

📬 What This Means For You During the Closure:
While our doors are physically closed to visitors, Thunder and the rest of the team are still hard at work behind the scenes:

📝 Adoptions: We are still actively accepting online adoption applications! Actual adoptions will officially resume when we reopen on June 8 with our same weekly hours.

💻 Communication: We will remain fully accessible via Facebook message or email at [email protected].

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate this fast-tracked timeline. We are so excited to show you our fresh, safe, and updated look so we can continue serving our community and saving lives for years and years ahead! 🐱❤️
