Meet Tyson, a handsome 3-year-old orange long-haired boy looking for his forever home!

Tyson is the ultimate laid-back guy whose main mission in life is spreading pure affection. Though he can be a tiny bit shy at first, he melts instantly once he feels safe—turning into a total softy who adores getting head scratches, chin rubs, and soaking up all the cuddles he can get. During his initial checkup, we discovered he was FIV+ and recovering from some severe wounds, but that hasn't dimmed his sweet, relaxed spirit one bit!

An FIV diagnosis is definitely not a death sentence, and HHS is actively working to change the stigma surrounding it. Having FIV simply means Tyson needs to live indoors in a clean environment and receive regular yearly and sick checkups, just like any other cat.
FIV is only passed from cat to cat through deep blood-to-saliva contact, like a serious fight. It cannot be passed to humans, dogs, or other animals. With proper, slow introductions to ensure a peaceful dynamic, Tyson can safely live an amazing, fun-filled life alongside other furry companions and a loving human family.

Tyson has so much affection to share and is ready for a cozy couch and endless love. Apply to adopt this fluffy, sweet boy today!

Kitten Shower Adoption Details & Important Information 🐾

Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2026, for our Kitten Shower! Adoption fees will decrease throughout the event based on each adopter’s check-in time:

🕛 12:00–1:00 PM — $180
🕐 1:00–2:00 PM — $160
🕑 2:00–3:00 PM — $140
🕒 3:00–4:00 PM — $120

How Check-In Works:

Your adoption fee is determined by the time you check in—not when you select a kitten, complete your paperwork, or leave the shelter.

Preapproved adopters will receive numbered badges and be assisted in check-in order. Each adopter will have one supervised, 30-minute meet-and-match session to spend time with available kittens and find the right fit.

At the end of the session, the adopter must either move forward with an approved adoption or return the kitten to availability for the next family. Kittens cannot be held, reserved, or carried around outside of a scheduled session.

Remaining at the event beyond your match session will not reduce your adoption fee.

Before You Attend:

🐾 Preapproval is required. Only applicants who have been approved before the event may adopt that day.

🐾 Specific kittens are not guaranteed. Availability may change throughout the event, and all matches remain subject to HHS’s final placement approval.

🐾 Submitting an application does not reserve a kitten. We strongly encourage interested adopters to apply early so our team has time to complete the approval process before the event.

There’s something about Hobbs that makes you want to pause and just breathe for a moment.

While some cats jump straight into your lap, Hobbs prefers the art of laying back and taking it all in. He’s a quiet one-year-old homebody who likes to hang back, observe from a cozy spot, and let the world move around him. He isn’t the type to rush up to greet you right away, but that only makes the moments he shares with you feel all the more special.

Hobbs is a gentle soul through and through. He gets along wonderfully with every cat he meets and brings a calm, sweet energy to any room he’s in. He doesn’t need to be the loudest voice in the room to steal your heart—he just lets his soft eyes and relaxed charm do the work when you least expect it. ❤️

If you have a quiet home and a spot on the couch ready for a gentle companion, Hobbs might just be your missing piece. Come meet this sweet boy and fill out an adoption application today. 🐾

🐾 FREE COMMUNITY CAT WORKSHOP: TNR 101 🐾

Do outdoor or feral cats live in your neighborhood—and you want to help, but have no idea where to begin?

Join Hopewell Humane Society on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM at the Hopewell Library for a practical introduction to Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return. Doors open at 9:30 AM for coffee, pastries, and check-in.

We’ll cover how to assess a colony, secure appointments, prepare and monitor humane traps, transport cats safely, manage recovery, return cats appropriately, and locate free, low-cost, and paid resources throughout our region. We’ll also provide a hands-on demonstration using several types of clean, empty traps.

The workshop is free, but advance pre-registration is required. Final pre-registrations will be accepted through October 8. No walk-ins or same-day registrations will be accepted. Please do not bring cats, kittens, pets, or occupied traps to the library.

We’ve learned that Clementine has a very simple philosophy in life: if there is a human nearby, there is probably food involved. 😂

Open a cabinet? Clementine is there. Open a bag? She’s definitely there. Walk anywhere near the kitchen without offering a snack? Well, that’s just rude. We’re pretty sure Clementine considers every person in the building her personal waiter, and honestly, we admire the confidence.

If you’re looking for a four-legged foodie who will happily supervise every meal you make, come meet Clementine and apply to adopt! 🐾❤️

Rescue work is incredibly rewarding, but it is also demanding, and giving our dedicated team time to recharge allows us to continue providing the best care possible for our animals.

We hope everyone enjoys a wonderful holiday weekend surrounded by family and loved ones!

Interested in Adopting?

While our walk-in hours are closed, we are still scheduling adoption meet & greets by appointment only throughout the week and weekend. If you are interested in meeting one of our adoptable pets, please send us a direct message to set up a time!

Thank you for your continued support and understanding! ❤️🐱

Happy ! 🐾✨

Did you know that the cat you see in a shelter is rarely showing their true personality? Shelter environments can be loud and overwhelming, causing many sweet cats to spend their days hiding in fear. Thanks to our dedicated (and limited!) foster team, we are able to move cats who struggle in the shelter into quiet home settings where they can finally relax and let their real personalities shine!

Take 4-year-old Bellatrix, who affectionately goes by Bella, for example. At the shelter, Bella was completely terrified—spending her days hiding in the back of her kennel, staring non-stop with huge, anxious eyes. But once she stepped into a foster home, she transformed into the complete opposite!

Bella is naturally a cautious, gentle girl who looks to her humans for a little encouragement, but living in a home has revealed her fun and loving side. She is easily won over with treats, gentle pets, or her absolute favorite thing in the world—a wand toy!

During the day, Bella loves having designated safe spots and cozy nooks around the house or under the bed to nap. But as soon as night falls, her inner cuddle bug takes over. Bedtime is when she feels most safe, so she will happily curl right up to spoon with you all night long. The absolute best part? You'll wake up every single morning to her right by your side, sweetly begging for pets and love to start the day.

Bella is living proof of just how life-changing a home environment is for a shy shelter cat. If you have a peaceful home and a heart ready to give this gorgeous tortie the love she deserves, she is ready to meet you! Send us a message today to learn more about adopting Bella! 💌

DON'T PICK YOUR KITTEN BEFORE YOU COME.

We know photos catch your attention. But the kitten who looks perfect on your screen may not be the kitten whose personality, energy, handling preferences, and needs fit your household.

At our Kitten Shower & Adoption Open House, preapproved applicants will meet available kittens in person and learn who they actually are, not simply what they look like.

No advance selections. No reservations. No "I called that one first." We cannot guarantee which kittens will be available until the event begins at 12 PM.

Come with an open mind. Ask questions. Meet the babies. Let the right kitten choose you, too.
