It is a great pleasure to announce that today, indictments and arrest warrants have been issued for those responsible for the murders of 8 year old P'aris Moore, Richmond Fire Marshall Ashley Berry, and Deanthony Davis. Further details will be issued at a later date.
I want to congratulate the Hopewell Police Department and my assistant Sarah Ulmer for their diligence and dogged determination in solving these cases. Sarah Ulmer is the attorney that I share with Prince George County, who we hired pursuant to a grant received as part of Governor Youngkin's Cease Fire Initiative.
This is the first of good news I will be sharing as there will be more good news to come in the future.

The Hopewell Circuit Court docket has been canceled for tomorrow. The Circuit Court Clerk's Office has been closed and will not reopen until Monday February 7. I am the second person in my office to come down with Covid. My office remains open, however, we are trying to conduct as much, if not all business, by telephone.

Great job!

Great job!

Congratulations to Officer M. Buleza for being recognized as the Officer of the Month for May 2019.

Officer Buleza was nominated by his peers and selected by the HPD’s Awards Committee for his exceptional and successful response to an apparent suicidal subject who had barricade himself in a vehicle with a firearm in his possession with which he was threatening to end his life.

Officer Buleza was able to make contact with and identify the subject, start a dialogue, build a rapport and safely conversate with him for approximately one and a half hours.

Ultimately, Officer Buleza was able to talk the man into putting the firearm down and stepping safely from the vehicle.

Officer Buleza’s effective communication skills and show of compassion brought a peaceful end to a potential volatile situation.

Congratulations, Officer Buleza!
