We are the folks who see the dangerous weather and set off the sirens to warn residents.

In an effort to provide the best possible community service it is necessary for us to test the weather sirens tomorrow, Thursday May 7th, 2026. The testing will occur between 6-630pm. The sirens will activate briefly and shut off several times during this testing period.

Please share this information with your friends and neighbors to prevent any confusion.

Storms out west are not impressive currently which is good. These storms are the main severe risk for most of IL.

These may still pose a damaging wind risk tonight but significant, widespread severe weather is not expected. You can go to bed, but have a way to receive warnings to be safe.

We'll keep watch on these for possible intensification but right now it's good they're not severe right now.

Thanks to our weather spotters Tammy Hanley and Jon Cremeens for going out at a moments notice in the middle of the night! We set off the sirens because one of our own saw a funnel cloud headed towards Hopedale. At night we don't get a clear view like during the day, so we set off the sirens.
Thanks again to Ace and the village board for getting us our new sirens.
