🔥 High Fire Danger: Hot, dry conditions with light to moderate winds present an increased risk for fires. Please use caution when burning yard debris and always have a water source readily available.

đźš’ High Fire Danger: While the burn ban has been lifted, high fire danger is back for Tuesday and Wednesday across most of the state. Hot, dry conditions, with some lighter to moderate winds, will keep fire danger high across the state, along with soil drying.

Humidity levels ramp up Thursday into the weekend along with increasing showers/storm chances at least in hit or miss fashion so after Wednesday the fire danger should decrease again.

Captain Lloyd and Lieutenant Riddle were able to successfully rescue this little fellow after he got stuck in a culvert. It wasn't a typical call, but still a reminder that we're here for ALL of our community.

Did we get 6/10 of an inch of rain this weekend? Yes. Does that cancel the burn ban? No. What does this mean? NO open burning. No camp fires, bonfires, burn pits, burn barrels, etc. No "but I'm just burning a small pile of leaves and it is contained." Because trust us, it is contained until it isn't, and it happens in an instant. Yes we live in the country where burning natural vegetation is legal. BUT until further notice you can and will be fined by the if you purposely light a fire for any reason.

Member Spotlight: Meet Firefighter Kacy Todd. Kacy has been a familiar face in Gray’s Creek for decades—joining Station 24 in 2003 before moving to Station 18 in 2022.

Kacy enjoys getting to help the community she's lived in for most of her life. Outside the firehouse, Kacy works as a Pharmacy Technician at Brisson Drugs, but her commitment to helping others doesn’t stop there. She also served in the U.S. Navy from 2005–2009 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

A longtime member of the Gray’s Creek community (since 1990), Kacy enjoys spending her free time working in the yard and being with her family and pets. She proudly admits she’s a “crazy cat lady,” with two cats: Ember (a Tortoiseshell) and Delilah (a Russian Blue).

What GCFD means to her:
“No matter what goes on at home, you always have a family in the fire department.”

Kacy shares this message to anyone thinking about joining the fire service: “Do it! Whether you're looking for fun, experience, family, or even a career, I guarantee it will be worth it.”

Thursday Night Training: The saying "If you can't tie a knot, tie a lot" doesn't work for us. Ropes are a versatile tool, and we have to know how to use them when the time comes.
