🚨 FIFA is coming to New Jersey, expect increased traffic and rideshare activity. 🚨

Before getting into any rideshare vehicle, take a few seconds to make sure you’re getting into the right car.

New Jersey’s Sami’s Law requires rideshare vehicles to display identifying information and driver credentials to help protect passengers and improve rider safety.

Law enforcement agencies across New Jersey will be enforcing Sami’s Law to help keep residents and visitors safe during this busy travel period.

✅ Check the license plate
✅ Verify the vehicle make and model
✅ Confirm the driver’s name and photo in the app
✅ Never enter a vehicle that doesn’t match your ride details

A few extra seconds can save a life.

The New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau reminds all boaters of New Jersey’s “Slow Speed/No Wake” rules:

• Title 13:82 1.7 – Speed – No person shall operate a vessel where its speed and/or wake may cause danger or injury to life or limb, or damage to property.

• Title 12:7 45 – Speed of Power Vessels – The speed of power vessels shall at all times be regulated to avoid danger or injury to any craft (floating, moored, anchored, or underway) or to piers, wharfs, bulkheads, draw spans, or other waterfront construction, either directly or by the effect of the wash or wave raised by such vessel.

Reduce speed to slow speed/no wake when passing:

• Any marina, pier, dock, wharf, or abutment within 200 ft (except on Lake Hopatcong, per N.J.A.C. 13:82 3.11)
• Work barges, platforms, or floats actually engaged in work related activity
• Bridge openings of 400 ft or less
• Lagoons, canals, or confined areas less than 200 ft wide
• Vessels not under command
• Emergency vessels displaying sequential flashing or rotating blue lights
• Vessels engaged in Coast Guard recognized activities displaying rotating or sequential flashing red and yellow lights.

❄️🌧️🧊 A cold night ahead will set the stage for a wintry mix across the region on Tuesday. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the upper teens to around 20 degrees, which will allow precipitation arriving during the morning hours to accumulate and create some slippery travel conditions.

Precipitation will likely begin as a mix of snow and sleet before transitioning to freezing rain later in the morning. By the afternoon, temperatures should gradually warm enough for most areas to change over to plain rain, although higher elevations may hold onto freezing rain a bit longer.

Despite air temperatures being slow to climb, the strengthening March sun should help road surfaces improve toward midday. Even with temperatures hovering around 31–32 degrees, sunlight and marginally warming conditions should allow many treated and paved surfaces to recover.

Looking ahead to late Tuesday night, temperatures may drop quickly once again. If surfaces remain wet, there could be a risk for refreezing and areas of black ice into early Wednesday morning.
