Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Hoover Stair Climb to Remember.

This special event provides an opportunity to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Throughout the stairwell, the names and photos of the fallen first responders served as a powerful reminder of their courage and sacrifice. Each participant also carried the name and photo of a fallen hero on a lanyard as they made the climb.

It is truly an honor and a privilege to remember these brave public servants each year and to pay tribute to their legacy at this meaningful ceremony.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year's event so special. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

LABOR DAY: The only holiday where “I’M OFF WORK” is the entire point!

This Labor Day, we’re giving a shoutout to the people who keep Hoover moving, especially the ones who work while everyone else is grilling, traveling, or confidently insisting they can “just eyeball” the meat thermometer. 👀

Our officers, dispatchers, firefighters, public works crews, road crews, healthcare workers, and all the other folks pulling a shift this weekend: we see you, we appreciate you, and we hope your coffee is stronger than your Monday. ☕️

And to everyone enjoying the long weekend: have fun, be safe, buckle up, don’t drink and drive, and please remember…

Arrest Made in Overnight Drowning

On September 3, 2026, at 9:32 PM the Hoover Police Department responded to the 2200 Block of Little Valley Rd after a 911 call was received of an unresponsive person located in the community pool. The victim, a 70-year-old female of Hoover, was pronounced deceased after life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of her family.

Detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation and located a person of interest near the area and determined she was an acquaintance of the victim. Evidence showed a physical struggle occurred just before the victim’s death, which is being investigated as a homicide. The official cause and manner of death will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The facts and evidence in this case were presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office in Birmingham where the following warrant was issued:

Anastasia Tsefia Sudarsana 30-years-old Hoover, AL

• Murder No Bond

Sudarsana is currently being held and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later today.
