Our School Resource Officers wrapped up a productive week in Orange Beach at The Alabama Association of School Resource Officers (TAASRO) 2026 Safe Schools Conference!

Even though school is out for the summer, our commitment to keeping students safe never takes a break. School resource officers, principals, school nurses, counselors, and other school safety professionals from across Alabama gathered this week to learn, collaborate, and strengthen school safety practices. There were over 1,500 attendees!

The safety of your children remains our top priority, and continuing education and training are essential to that mission.

(And just to reassure our community: while our SROs are attending this conference, our schools remain staffed. Every Hoover school continues to be covered by a Hoover Police Officer throughout the week.)

Suspect Arrested After Car Burglary Investigation

On May 15th, 2026, the Hoover Police Department began an investigation after several residents in the Lake Crest community reported vehicle break-ins and a residential burglary. Officers and Detectives responded to the scenes and were able to quickly gather evidence that identified De’Vonte Tubbs as the suspect. The investigation determined Tubbs entered twelve unlocked vehicles and the garage of one occupied residence.

As a result of this investigation, the facts and evidence were presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office in Bessemer where the warrants listed below were issued.

Tubbs was booked into the Jefferson County Jail-Bessemer today at 12:55pm.

The Hoover Police Department reminds residents to remain vigilant. Securing your vehicles, removing weapons and valuables, and activating floodlights and home surveillance systems are a major deterrent to criminals who commit these types of crimes.
