Hoopeston Fire Department

Hoopeston Fire Department MABAS Division 40 (Vermilion County) and 37 (Iroqouis County) East-West boundaries are the Indiana State Line to 990 East Road. A total of 65 square miles

Currently, Hoopeston Fire Department has a roster of 17 volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our service area extends from the Iroquios County Line on the North, to 3850 North Road on the South.

Several recent fires are an important reminder to use lithium-ion batteries safely.

Whether it's an e-bike, e-scooter, power tool, cell phone, or laptop, lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives—but improper charging or damaged batteries can quickly become a fire hazard.

🔋 Help protect your home and family:
✔️ Use only the charger designed for your device.
✔️ Never charge batteries on beds, couches, or under pillows.
✔️ Charge in an open area away from anything that can burn.
✔️ Stop using a battery if it becomes damaged, swollen, or unusually hot.
✔️ Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash—recycle them at an approved collection site.

If you notice smoke, unusual odors, popping sounds, or excessive heat while charging, unplug the device if it is safe to do so and move away immediately.

A few simple precautions can help prevent a devastating fire.
