PUBLIC NOTICE REGARDING MUNCIPAL ELECTION 2026!

I want to clarify a question that was asked of me today.

The 2026 municipal election on Tuesday, October 6th is NOT an election that you can come in to City Hall and vote in-person. It is a vote-by-mail election.

If you want to exercise your right to vote, please make sure to get your ballot (which you should have already received in the mail), to City Hall no later than 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6th. There are several options to doing this.

You could:

1. Mail in the ballot with the pre-stamped envelope provided. It is important to put it in the mail in time to be postmarked and received by the City on October 6th. Remember the post office window closes at 5 p.m.

2. Drop the ballot off at City Hall to City Clerk Jen Bidiman.

3. Put the ballot in the locked drop box outside of City Hall.

Please call 907-945-3663 if you have any questions.

Next week HIA and City of Hoonah would like to celebrate the completion of 4,200 feet of the Spasski Historic Trail. It would be great to have you there! Donuts from Breeze In and hot apple c***r will be provided.

This event won't be super formal, but here's an agenda you can expect:

--Welcome to the site and introduction to HNFP crew
The history of Spasski Historic trail
-Project history from HIA and City of Hoonah
-Thanking all crew (HNFP, Kake, AYS, Intern Program), funders (USFS, City of Hoonah) and project partners
-Talking about what's coming up next for trail building
-Hiking the trail - we'll have vans at the other end to shuttle you back to your car.

PUBLIC NOTICE!

Good Morning Hoonah! Trash is picked up every Monday, Wednesday and Friday! It's that time of year when bears start roaming closer to town. Please keep trash indoors until the day of pick-up. We are trying to avoid training bears to be in town and avoid having to put them down.

Thank you for understanding!
