In English | En español – Summer break is coming to an end, and school is back on Monday!

Over the summer, the City has made some changes to the roadways around Hood River Middle School with the aim of improving safety for users of all modes of transportation. These updates, part of our Safe Routes to School plan, provide separate zones for kids arriving via vehicle drop-off, bicycles, scooters and wheels, and buses.

Key things to note:
• Designated drop-off/pick-up is on May Street, with parking available outside of school hours.
• Bike lane on the East side of 17th – NO PARKING OR STOPPING PERMITTED
• Bus only parking on May at the corner of 17th
• Updated ADA parking on May
• Improved safety for school buses entering and exiting the bus lane

Thank you for obeying traffic signals and keeping our kids safe!

In English | En español - Join us in celebrating the completion of Dee Hydro – our in-conduit hydropower project! This project takes something the City of Hood River already has—water flowing through our water system—to produce clean energy.

Despite challenges along the way, the Hood River City Council remained steadfast in their vision to find solutions and bring this project to completion, and make progress on our energy goals. Over its first 30 years, the project is expected to generate roughly 16 million kilowatt hours of electricity.

Thank you to the Energy Trust of Oregon, Oregon Department of Energy, Hood River Energy Council, Pacific Power, and City of Hood River Councilors and staff who helped to make this possible.
