Accomplished Hawaii business leader brings proven executive experience and deep community roots

HONOLULU, HAWAII — August 12, 2026 — The Hawaii Republican Party is proud to announce Kelly Kitashima as the Party's selection for State Senate District 18.

Kitashima brings more than 24 years of leadership experience in Hawaiis hospitality and tourism industries, with a background in executive management, resort operations, sales, marketing, community relations, acquisitions, and business development.

Most recently, Kitashima managed the day-to-day operations of a 257-plus-unit resort, overseeing a $55 million annual operating budget and more than 80 employees. Her record includes reducing operating costs while improving owner satisfaction and strengthening employee engagement.

A Native Hawaiian born and raised on O'ahu and a graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapalama, Kitashima brings both local roots and real-world leadership experience to the race.

Overall prices rose 5.1%.

Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to bribery and conspiracy charges. She and four others were indicted in a 12-count public corruption case. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

But Hawaiʻi voters are entitled to ask:

How did allegations this serious reach the second-highest office in state government?

Where was Governor Josh Green’s oversight?

Why does accountability seem to arrive only after the damage is done?

One-party control protects the system. A strong Republican vote forces transparency, oversight, and consequences.

Josh Green first declared a housing emergency in July 2023. On March 16, 2026, his administration issued the 18th affordable-housing proclamation.

After 18 proclamations, Hawaiʻi families are not measuring success by announcements.

They are measuring it by:

Whether they can afford rent.
Whether they can buy a home.
Whether their children can remain in Hawaiʻi.

A proclamation is not a home. Local families need real construction, fewer government barriers, and leadership focused on results.
